HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY (AND 'G-DAY'), Y'ALL!!!

...How much cooler can a (week)day get? Ginger, while not wearing green above, is at least backdropped with it...always LOVED this pic, BTW...
Well, hope y'all all have some manner of green on today...it's a pretty cool 'observance'...my wife and I were in New Orleans back...well, nine years ago (oof) - and they have a pretty neat parade, where they throw cabbage heads, potates, and other stuff to make soup with, along with leftover beads and trinkets from Mardi Gras, down from floats which are two stories high... you have to be on your toes for that, to avoid getting clocked with a cabbage head!
AAANNNDDD, hope everyone has made final preps for Week Two of GingerMarch! I have been out of pocket a bit - went last night to my team's NIT basketball game (UAB) - we whupped Coastal Carolina pretty good - they had a chicken mascot, and we have a decent track record against 'chicken' teams... :-] ...anyway, as a result, my blog time has been limited... hope to catch up tonight with folks!
...and, I would be remiss (whatever THAT is) if I did not mention this... we were out eating at an Italian Restaurant the other night, and I ordered a 'Parmesan platter' - had chicken, eggplant, and veal... my daughter said, "Veal? Like Ginger said in 'It Had to Be You, right?" ...Honestly, I said, "What?" - she said - "You know, when the guy said it was something else, she said it was veal!" ...oh yeah, the 'bet' on whatever dish they were talking about at the restaurant...their 'favorite food'... can't remember the name of it, but... just thought it was pretty funny that my daughter came out with that... had me stumped for a second! :-)
OK - off to work, tra-la-la... (ugh)... :-} Until Tonight....
Keep It Gingery, Y'ALL!!!

  1. Happy St. Patrick's Day! and more importantly Happy Ginger-Day part two! Thats an interesting thought...off the top of my head I cant think of a picture of Ginger wearing Green...perhaps not a good color on her - I guess she just stuck with pink. ;)

LOL, I guess your little princess and I would get along well...I had the same thought about the veal parmesan...is it chicken or beef? ;)

Enjoy Ginger night - dont short out your keyboard drooling over Gold Diggers or 42nd Street. Im (or rather my DVD recorder is) off the hook until atleast 10:30 for Professional Sweetheart. The only one I havent seen is Carnival Boat and I think im going sto skip Suicide Fleet, Tenderfood, You Said a Mouthful and The Tip- Off...

Im gonna go read about the movies in my NEW Ginger book! Hee hee Im still excited about that!

  2. BTW, Im thinking Ginger had a little Irish in her. McMath - definitely Irish...and Katherine - yup some Irish there too. (My legal name is the same except spelled Kathryn...think I should get it changed? :P)

PS that should have been Tenderfoot not Tenderfood!

  3. Happy St. Patricks Day too!!!

That's cool about your daughter. I wish I could meet her, we have some things in common!!

Btw, thanks for putting my blog for the video on your other post. I think it's neat.
Also, there is a chance I might get that Now Playing magazine!

  4. SG - yep, my daughter does keep up with the Ginger stuff...and you know, she REALLY likes 'IHTBY'...between her and all of y'all, I am basically being clubbed into submission on that movie..."why yes, I LOVE IT!! ...just please don't whomp me again with that 2x4..." ...actually, the movie IS growing on me... never REALLY 'disliked' it, just wasn't in my 'Top Ten' or so...

GF11 - heh heh - yep, not much gets by my daughter...and she has a pretty good memory! She is a very sweet girl, who is a great blessing! ...hope you get the mag! - I may just go suscribe to it - I watch enough TCM to where it would be cool to get... my mom would dig it, too... although 'ever what you need' (a weird way of saying 'everything') can be found on the internet, it's still neat to get a 'physical copy' of a book to thumb thru...
AND, thanks again for the video clip! Watching all of the Ginger scenes in rapid sucession like that is almost 'sensory overload' for me! It's such a cool clip!

    Sincerely,

  5. Go watch IHTBY, dont pay attention to the silly story, just watch Ginger and appreciate how gorgeous she is in that movie! Do like you suggested before. Put on the movie and turn down the sound. ;)

  6. ...will do it soon... it will be shown on TCM on April 1st...no, not going to talk about how it is on April Fool's Day...
I have seen it quite a bit, and yes, she is smashing in it, visually...

  8. ...It's a favorite of mine! I can usually get most folks... but haven't been as big on it the last few years, for whatever reason... I think my wife has finally caught on...

  9. Maybe all the Ginger movies that day/night before will inspire me to pull off some tricks and go "hahaha".... ;) HOORAY! It stopped snowing - talk about an April Fools trick for the first day of Spring! Gee, thanks Mother Nature.

  10. Well, good for you, but...it is supposed to snow here tonight! which, is not really a big deal, since it was 75 degrees Saturday... so anything that falls will not have a prayer to accumulate. In fact, the low here tonight is only 36 or so - shouldn't be a problem.
You know, I bet in REAL LIFE, Ginger was quite the prankster, if the stories of her on the set are any indication! She LOVED to pull stunts and try to fake people out... she just seemed SO cool...

  11. I wrote an entry at my classic Hollywood blog, "Carole & Co." on how Rogers' work in "Professional Sweetheart" was along the lines of Carole Lombard's work beginning with "Twentieth Century," and it came at a time when Lombard hadn't really found her nice as an actress yet:

  12. Thanks for the link, VP!

It's cool to watch other movies and imagine how your fave would be in the role... of course I do that quite a bit with Ginger. Yes, Carole would have been great in Professional Sweethearts! I need to catch some more of her movies... I am just now 'comfortable' in my Ginger knowledge, and plan to start checking out other films... time is always that big 'fly in the ointment' regarding watching films...
Thanks for the link, and for sharing! Please return anytime to yak about anything!

    Sincerely,
    VKMfan
