Just a few notes...

...first off, as the 'header' above indicates, we are all 'socked in' with snow here at Gingerology HQ... well, heck, the rest of the fam are actually at the kids' school for the night... it started snowing around 10 A.M., and the interstate system and most 'surface streets' are generally iced to the point of being impassable (well, for folk here in South Gingerville, anyway...) and their school is 'across town', and on a mountaintop, so... my wife beached the minivan and walked up to the school, where they are 'hunkered down' for tonight, and maybe even tomorrow night, as it's not getting above freezing tomorrow... oof.  There's around 100 or so there, so, they are far from alone, which is good.  There are folks stuck on the interstates even as I type, who have been there for at least 8 hours now... it's getting pretty scary... most folks have hopefully found a 'place of refuge' off of the road...lots of churches and other places are opening up for the night to take in folks... it's just been a VERY bad deal, which the local weather folks missed...hey, they're human... So, let's hope everyone is safe and warm and accounted for, everywhere this storm has hit.
On to lighter, yet VERY important mention: Hu bestows MONDO accolades to a fellow Gingerologist, Barbara Atkinson! She has equipped the Gingerology HQ with a LARGE collection of Ginger's radio broadcasts, which were badly needed...I only had one or two of these broadcasts, and really wanted to obtain more... I have yet to listen to one...was planning tonight, but...it's been a weird, long day, honestly, and I want to be in 'full consciousness mode' when I'm listening, to get the full Gingery effect... but I will MOST definitely be cranking these out soon, with gusto!  So, thanks SOOOOO much, Lady B!!! I REALLY have my work cut out to reciprocate this gift!!!
And, HEY! It's Arianna's 18th Birthday!!! Well, it was yesterday... BUT, here's the awesome Ginger cake, which is a revered Gingerology tradition!
...and in case you've missed previous years, here ya go:
...pretty awesome!!! In case y'all didn't know, this last pic was Gingerology's original 'header pic'...thus one of my all time faves...her eyes here are truly mesmerizing... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AB!!!!
...well, not much else happening... I may get some stuff done tomorrow, but...we will see....hope all is well where y'all are... and KIG!!!

...Ginger on the TODAY Show...

...well, sorta... the story was about Michelle Obama's 50th Birthday, and for whatever reason, mentions folks who were in their 50's when she was born in 1964... and Ginger (who turned 53 in 1964) is included in this group, along with Lady Bird Johnson, Bette Davis, and Gene Kelly... Ginger shows up at the 50-second mark of this brief clip (linked - couldn't get the vid to load...blogger strikes again - it's the first video you scroll down to (50's in 1964)...):

Ginger on TODAY...January 2014

...ultimately, just cool to see our girl in the 'current media', in any capacity... and danged if I haven't seen this pic before! I wish I had a nickel for every GingerPic out there...

Hope y'all are all well out there, and DON'T forget the 'sync' viewing of Barkleys of Broadway over on FaceBook tonight - 9 P.M. Eastern...it's a 'running dialogue' of the film as all participants view it simultaneously... pretty fun stuff!

Until then, hope y'all...

...Fox Movie Channel is...

...no more... well, at least the one which showed classic 20th Century-Fox films... a sad thing, since Fox Films / 20th Century Fox is second only to RKO in number of GingerFilms produced. Ginger made a few early ones at Fox Films, such as Broadway Bad, where she was Joan Blondell's sidekick:
...Hu is a bit sad... but Miss Rogers says it'll be alright...

It IS pretty awesome that a year or so Fox released a lot of Ginger's classic films for the studio, which of course Hu purchased... and of course holding out hope that Hat Check Girl will find its way to DVD - although it's SO cool that we at least now know that it not only EXISTS, but has been restored!

Ginger had quite a few of her 'latter' films at the studio, including one of my faves of hers on the 'screwball' side, "Monkey Business", with Cary Grant...BTW, for those of y'all who don't know, Tina Louise named her character on Gilligan's Island after these two...Ginger Grant! Here's those two now - Ginger in a ponytail is so cool...
But as for the 'Fox Movie Channel', which is now FXX or something like that, it's been removed from the 'GingerFilms' page, which now only includes good ol' TCM... with that, if there's a channel out there which I'm missing, that shows GingerFilms, PLEEEEEZE inform me of it, and I will gladly post on here - note the schedule for the channel, and I'll keep up with any GingerFilms which are scheduled to air...and this includes 'non-U.S.' channels, such as BBC, etc...

Maybe Fox will 'revamp' things and get back to airing 'classic' films from their archives... if not, we may just send Rox over there to straighten them out!
...well, hope y'all were able to record any GingerFoxFilm you didn't have... and maybe it at least made you aware of a few more of Miss Rogers' films.  Fox can redeem itself mightily with the DVD release of Hat Check Girl... right?

Hope y'all are having a great year thus far...

2014... And all is GINGERY!!!

...as our girl is eying a new project to create, it's time for the good folks at Gingerology to do likewise, and get some production work going... 2013 was a pretty good year, which saw the 'advent' of the Ginger FaceBook Community. MANY great things are shared over there, and I do encourage you if you haven't already to jump over there and join in the conversations. There are also LOTS of great pics showing up there as well, and I'm pretty sure most of the pics in this post have 'sourced' there. Such as this stunning one of a YOUNG Ginger:

...and one of a, well, NOT as young (but still VERY stunning) Ginger:
...and there's SOOOOOO many more, as well as 'running dialogue', polls, GingerFilm 'sync-viewing' events with real-time commentary... and MUCHO info regarding our girl. SO...the take-home here is... GET ON FACEBOOK!!!

Now, on to other issues... FIRST...yes, Top Hat needs a Huey Treatment.... BADLY. I've gotten about a third of the way through the screen caps, and need to pick them back up soon.

HOWEVER, henceforth, it's gonna be pretty tough to get a 'Full Huey Treatment' out for each Ginger Review, since we are now in the 'MaximumGinger' region of her filmography. As a result, I am resuming the 'general reviews' in chronological order, and will work in a 'Huey Treatment' here and there... I LOVE doing them, but... they are time-consuming, y'all...  which holds up the 'general reviews', which shouldn't be the case.

SECOND...I have a LOT of GingerPics, y'all...(...no, REALLY!!! :-P ) ...I am ultimately going to sort them out and place them in their appropriate GingrFilm blogs, BUT... I'm gonna need y'all's help on a few pics...as in what film did a particular pic come from...or if it even is CONNECTED to a film...for example, any ideas on this one (which is a FAVE of mine)? It looks 'Mag Doll'-ish, but....not sure...
SO, this will pop up as a post every now and then, which allows YOU to be pro-active!

THIRD... Rolling out NEW features on the blog... One BIG deal is that Hu and the Crew have purchased a new printer / scanner which is pretty bodacious... an extra-large scanning pane allows images larger than 11x17 to be scanned in, which helps out for quite a bit of Gingerbilia documentation...like SUCH...
SO, a new spot on the blog will document Hu's 'Gingertory' (i.e., inventory of Gingerbilia...) - and HEY! Another entry for the GingerSpeak page!

FOURTH... More POSTS!!!! Even a few Gingery items two or three times a week will keep the blog fresh, informative, and hopefully entertaining for all. This may entail some correlation with FaceBook posts, from myself or from fellow Gingerologists, with their permission, of course... which leads me into the....

FIFTH item... a call for guest Gingerology posters!!!
...well, no, not THOSE type of Gingerology Posters (although I'd part with QUITE a bit to have one of those puppies in the main entry lobby of Gingerology HQ...) ...but, if you have a Gingery-themed post idea which YOU would like to create, it would be MOST welcome here...just keep it clean (y'all are great with that) ...and of course any resources needed will hopefully be available for the post (pics, info, etc.). I'll post this over on FB as well... IF interested, just e-mail me, or PM me on FB, and we can work it out...

And...well...that's all I can think of for now, other than the general 'upkeep' of the blog, including 'This Day in Gingerology' - which I am going to expand by searching more stuff, and also by noting (by link) posts from Gingerology past... that should be a hoot of sorts...

SO... a lot to say, but...now I just gotta get to work!!!! :-P

and with all of that... thanks for y'all's support over the years (weird I can actually say that now... time flies, don't it?) ...and, as we sometimes say here...
...Keep It Gingery, y'all!!!

Awards...Thanks, Y'all!!!

...I TRULY appreciate these, and the kind words regarding this blog...thanks for all the inspiration I have drawn from each of your blog sites, which are all awesome in their unique ways!!!
It is my hope that I can continue to make 'G-ology' interesting and informative regarding the 'Beautiful Science' of VKM, which is SUCH a great topic!!! ...And remember, your comments are what make Gingerology click - so keep cranking them out!

Thanks again, JW
