Odds and Ends...

First off, as requested by SassyGinger, a pic from 'Broadway Bad, starring Ginger and Joan Blondell... a nice picture of 'shoulders'... :-)

Also...talked to my mom this morning, and she said she saw a 'Ginger Feature' on TCM last night (between movies), where Robert Osborne goes over her career - it was a 8-10 minute feature. Most likely in prepration for March - and hopefully this feature will be shown quite a bit during the 'Ginger Nights'... so be on the lookout - hey, it might surface on YouTube or something...

As for the TCM movie list on the right, I am not going to TOUCH it until March is over... every time I edit it, it throws in 3-4 lines between text lines. And, since they are showing so many, will just keep them up to make sure folks know when they show one, or if it has already been shown... so please just scroll thru it as needed.

Finally, I have started converting stuff to mp3 files - mainly Ginger's audio book, which is neat to listen to, but pretty long overall. I am going to set up two 'jukeboxes' - one for Ginger tunes, and one for Ginger 'spoken word' stuff... so ANY suggestions as to the best 'jukebox' player for a blog site is would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Sincerely,
VKMfan

  1. You know, until recently I was completely unaware of Ginger's "pre-code" stuff. But she really pulls it off doesnt she?

Re the jukebox: I found some new stuff! My newest mission is to find as much of Ginger's radio stuff as I can and thanks to a couple of OTR websites out there I'm doing all right. One of my favorites is an appearance she made with Bob Hope in 1944. She does a bit with Bob and then sings.

    Here,
I trimmed the show down to just GInger's stuff

And here's the song by itself:

Stay tuned. I just found a whole collection of Command Performance shows, Lux Radio Theaters and Academy Award Theaters too!

  4. SG - good deal! I have a few 'radio' performances, mainly, 'Kitty Foyle' on LP - Bette Davis does 'Jezebel' on the other side...sad to say I haven't listened to it yet, but it is on the Bucket List, and will definitely make it to the 'spoken word' jukebox...

ALD1296 - That is a cool picture - she isn't in that movie too much, but enough to check out, for sure! It is primarily Joan's movie...it really has the same kinda plot as 'Upper World', if you have seen that.

BTW...is that Chinese or Japanese? :-) Sorry I can't decipher it, but hope you enjoy the blog!!!

  5. LOL - Bucket List. I actually have two versions of Kitty Foyle on the radio both with Ginger. One is the Academy Award Theater from 1946 and one is from Lux Radio Theater from 1941 with Ginger, Dennis Morgan and James Craig so it sounds a little more like the movie.

  6. ...not sure which one is on the record...will probably listen to it soon.

Went to check out some 'jukebox' stuff...it seems to be a bit more of a bear than it should be to use one...'blogger' only has one that seems kinda 'dinky'. I will probably try to get one like Juliette of 'Some Parade' fame has, or Alex has at 'Born Too Late'. Would like to set up two, as aforementioned... I think you just add the tunes in as 'URLs' from your cmoputer...making them all mp3s should make that easy...in THEORY...

  7. I'll post both versions of Kitty to youshare for you - one less thing to convert . One is an hour long and one just a half hour. It's really funny when they try to squeeze a 2 hour movie into a 30 minute radio broadcast...

  8. Yeah i know! I saw it awhile ago....I wish it had more Ginger in it too! But in what she came out she was great :D
    Uh Upperworld was so sad!

  9. SG - thanks for the posts! Hopefully all this will get up and running soon! - I guess the Kitty I have is the 30-minute version...

Anna - yep - a little Ginger is still infinitely better than no Ginger :)
Upper World was a pretty good movie, just didn't like the fate of Ginger's character...but yeah, I watched the rest of it, and was pretty good...

  10. LOL agreed!
I know! I hated the fact that she died. She looked so cute in that movie though :D

  11. ...and she was such a neat character, too...almost like it was her 'real-life' persona... very pleasant (well, dang, totally DAZZLING to me! :-P ...she can whomp me with her powder puff ANY day, y'all!!!) It's a bit surprising that Warner hasn't put UpperWorld out on the Archive series yet, considering it WAS a Warner Brothers production... in time, I reckon...
