...Sad news to report...

Gary Marron recently passed away - he was a big Ginger fan who was ever present on FB posts regarding GR... he will be missed. Rest in peace, fellow Gingerologist...

...thanks to our fellow Gingerologist Vivian Miner over on FaceBook, who has revealed to us the fact that two GingerFilms are pending DVD release!!! They are...
Forever Female, and

Here's the links for each, with info on ordering:

Forever Female  (Available July 22, 2014... also available on Blu-Ray)

Cinderella   (a bit further out...August 12, 2014)

...FF was heretofore only available on VHS, so a nice add...and since it's a Paramount film, this MAY be the start of more GingerFilms from Paramount being released... of course the ones most sought after are the 'Paramount Pentateuch', which is Ginger's first five 'feature films', all from Paramount. Other Paramount GingerFilms which are in sore need of being restored are "Sitting Pretty" and "Lady in the Dark"; "The Major and The Minor" is the only other Paramount GingerFilm, but it is readily available.

...as for Cindy, it was released on DVD some time ago, but was discontinued; however, it proved to be quite popular, as eBay prices for copies typically hover between $75 - $100. So, this re-release is a good deal for obtaining it without going into debt...and as it's a 'supporting role' for Ginger, that's a good thing. I DO recommend popping on it, lest they discontinue it again...

Well, hope all is well out there!!! Have a safe, reflective, and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend with Friends and Family... Framily...is that going to become part of the lexicon? ... anyway, most of all...

KIG, y'all!!!

  1. Some splendid news -- I'll be moving to Los Angeles within the next few months! It took me two week-long visits to LA, but I finally secured an apartment and hope to complete the move by the end of July. (Since I work from home as an online proofreader, my job will only be minimally disrupted.) With all the resources in film history available there (the Margaret Herrick library at AMPAS, etc.), I hope to uncover yet more material on classic Hollywood in general and Carole Lombard in particular. (Carole & Co. celebrates its seventh birthday next month!)

Best wishes to you and your readers -- KIG and KIC! :)

    1. AWESOME, VP!!!! I will get out to Hollywood one of these years and check out everything... hope you transition seamlessly!!! Keep digging up Carole goodness!!!

    2. ...oh, and I forgot...please check out my latest post, which is an OPEN invite for all to post on G-ology...ANYthing Gingery... an overview of Ginger and Carole 'crossing paths' would be PERFECT!!! :-) thanks, vp!!! Hu

  2. Hey there Huey!

Thought I'd drop by and read the last couple of posts. That's interesting news regarding Forever Female. Believe it or not, I still haven't watched that movie. My copy has hard-coded French subtitles, and I found myself trying to match the audio to the subtitles (with my one year of college French). I had some success at that but lost focus on what was happening on the screen. So I've been dragging my feet about watching it till a dvd emerges. Glad Vivan found the news. As for Cinderella, I have that in dvd? Did I give you a copy? It's yours for the asking.

    Hope all is well.

BTW, Little T will be welcoming a baby brother or sister this fall. :)

    1. ...SOOOOO great to hear from you, Lady F!!! Hope all is well...AWESOME news regarding the impending addition the the fam!!! :-) Hope Mr. T is doing well!!! DON'T be a stranger! Join our wild and crazy Ginger bunch over on FB... it's quite a community!

Thanks for the offer, but I have Cindy from Gorg...and it has audio as well (think there was one on there before with no audio) - I also own a VHS copy of it, as well as one for FF...

Well, hope you check out the latest post... it's an OPEN CALL to all Gingerologists to submit something to the site for G-ology's 5th anniversary!!! Of course, I'm expecting a 1,000 word essay from you on my desk by the end of the month... :-) ...seriously, please jump in with ANYthing..any Ginger topic you wish to expound on... send it via e-mail, etc... and I NEED to get in touch with Beeje, BethRose, Maggie...those 'first generation' G-ologists! :-)

Hope to hear from you soon, LadyF!!!
