...VERY sad news...

...as some of you already know, we have lost a great member of the Gingerology 'family', erosenplatt (who was Amanda Cooper on FB) - here is the statement from her FB account by a friend:

This is a sad thing to write so please forgive me if I surprise you. I'm a friend of "Amanda Cooper". I'm writing to let her "friends" know that she has passed away. She was in a car accident over the weekend. She talked about her facebook Ginger fans group and loved reading what you wrote. She loved Ginger Rogers and you do too so you must have had a lot to talk about. I think she is in heaven now having lunch with Ginger Rogers catching her up on all that has happened on earth since she passed away. I don't know if "Amanda's" family will shut this page down or what but I think she'd want you to know she had passed. God bless you all.

...there are never adequate or 'right' words to utter when a tragedy occurs, but my sincere condolences to all who knew 'e' in a real sense, as I know a few of y'all did... and of course also to her family and other friends. I know we had LOTS of great correspondence together, and she was VERY knowledgeable of all things concerning Ginger... and overall just a sweet soul who always had a positive outlook on things...she will be sorely missed by this blogger, for sure...

Erosenplatt's blog, The Ginger Rogers Resource, is a neat site which has plenty of links and pics of Ginger... here's the link to it:

...and also her superb YouTube channel:

A sad post to make, y'all...but knowing 'e' is in The Great Beyond chatting with Ginger really makes things a bit better... and, as always, on a somber occasion like this, it's a time for reflection and re-evaluation... with that, my hope is that all of y'all know how awesome you all are, and I am VERY blessed and privileged to be associated with such a great group of folks...of course, Ginger is our 'central theme' here, but I think our 'links' have transcended even that, and we have become a close-knit 'community' of sorts...  which is really cool.

As always, and in memory of erosenplatt...

KIG y'all!

  1. Course this news had come to a complete shock to me. Molly messaged me about it last night and showed me the status. I thought I was friends with her on there, but I guess I wasn't. That's why I didn't see it sooner. But yeah, I was so shocked. I could not believe it. And then now it gets me thinking. We get so caught up in the things we do, and we never think twice that this kind of stuff can happen to our internet friends. And when it does it's such a shock cause we didn't expect it. Really really heartbreaking. :(

She was very sweet. I remember her comments on here and also she would comment over on Ginger's Corner a few times. Loved the company. Plus I loved The Ginger Rogers Resource blog. It was wonderful with all the stuff she'd dig up and find. Great contributor to Gingerology and the community. I didn't know her too well, but at least I got to know her to a certain extent.

And I appreciate having everyone else too. All of you all are wonderful indeed. And I'm glad to say I myself am working forward on from my issues with the self harm and suicide things. You guys are so great to be around. And not only you guys but other great people and gingerologists. It makes me smile that I have stuff in common to talk about. And it's really amazing.

Again, I'd like to say that Erosenplatt will be missed greatly. May she rest in peace and god bless her. And now she can be chatting and hanging out with Ginger up there. <3

  3. I've been off the blogs etc and would have missed this tragic news had not Fred&GingerMad been kind enough to let me know. Erosenplatt was nice, generous and kind -- all things that seem common to the Ginger fans I've met. It was a pleasure knowing her. My heart goes out to her family and those close to her. My condolences to them.

  4. "E"'s sad passing has really brought home how grateful I am that I've "met" so many lovely people simply through a love of Ginger, my friendship with E evolved from her suggesting a store in the US where I could get my records converted to CD on a youtube video.
It hits hardest because we only just spent the Labor Day weekend with her and Anneliese spent half the trip hoping (aloud) that one day she'd be able to show E where we live and now it won't be happening :(
