...Awesome Article by Ginger...

...just received this from a 'collection' of various Gingerbilia I won on eBay... I do not know the magazine this article came from, only that is from the mid-50's... it speaks VOLUMES about Ginger's philosophy of life, which is, "WORK HARD!" She would have been a PERFECT motivational speaker! If HALF the folks we have around today had HALF of Ginger's work ethic, think of how much stuff would be accomplished!!! (yeah, I'm pointing the finger at me as well...)

Well, instead of me just yapping on and on, check out the article, which has some pretty killer pics as well:

...As I've said a million times, there is NO way I could have kept up with her... but would have certainly died trying!!! :-]

  1. Thanks of for the article. What she says it's right, we have nothing if we don't work hard

  2. A lesson we all need to hear today, and often! Great post!

  3. Well, generally spoken Ginger's right. On the other hand she was lucky, being such rare beauty, gifted with lots of energy too. And she learned quick, having such a quick mind. Ginger was a very lucky Girl. To have such a wonderful mother like Lela, is great-great luck too!

Other young people also work hard, but they have not that success, for they're not attractive enough. If people are clumsy, they can improve by working, but they will never become a professional performer. Same goes for those who are a bit slow in their heads - they can't get sequences of a dance quick enough - but showbiz is very fast, there's hardly time to wait for slow people with slow minds.

All this is part of reality too: Many people fail, although they work very-very hard. I've been teaching long enough to see into this.

  4. Another point: This magazine piece is promotion for Ginger - it's kind of advertising. And it's really full of clichés. Having success in Hollywood is like winning the jackpot. Even for the hardest-working an extremely slim chance. So lets just enjoy the beautiful pictures. I like them very much indeed.

  5. Wow - you know sometimes I doubted that Ginger wrote all of the book. Oh I don't doubt its her memories but maybe they were a bit polished. But if Ginger really did write this article then I don't doubt she wrote every word of that book!

  6. I don't doubt she wrote her book - those memories are too personal, written in a very personal style. I think she polished herself. We all do polish our memories - subconscious does anyway, we couldn't stand life otherwise.

But if she wrote (did she??!) this article, it was 'another Ginger' than the Ginger that later wrote the book: The Ginger that was still in business, trying to boost her success. And I think she had to 'write' stuff like this (or tell it in the interview as I suggest). It was expected, as sort of part of her duties. The private Ginger, that later wrote the book, has much more distance and is quite critical. This here isn't critical. It's very naive - written for naive people. Hollywood is wonderful films we all love - but it's a place of monkey business as well. Well, we all know that.

But as Ginger was naive enough in a way, to fall for monkeys like Marshall, she might have believed such stories. This is the price of working around the clock since age of 14: How could she really grow up (and be able to find the right husband)?

But it is naive to believe "oh, it only depends on working hard to become a star - so anybody can be a star". That's nonsense. But stories like that can be sold well, because the masses like to read them, as they like to believe them. As they believe in astrological signs.

  7. ...although this article may have been 'compiled' and 'edited', I think the general spirit of Ginger's philosophy of life shows in it... I dig the passage that says if you know what you are doing is your 'calling', then go at it with both barrels and become an expert at it! My philosophy at work is, 'if you didn't learn something today, then you didn't accomplish anything today'... always be in 'learning mode'.
Of course, just hard work isn't a guarantee - NOTHING in life is guaranteed... but ya gotta throw the effort out there and see what happens...
OK, enough with the 'philosophy' stuff...bottom line, Ginger kicked booty when it came to work ethic, which we all could take note in regards to WHATEVER we set out to accomplish... AND, on a VERY important side note, I just flippin' LOVE that pic on the first page... even tho that hat kinda looks like an LP record perched on her gorgeous little noggin'...
