...the 'Hair Poll' results...

...not too surprising that 'Tight Spot' was the hands-down winner (or loser, I suppose) in the poll... It is a shame, since she really does quite well in the movie, and looks great otherwise (as usual)... so don't let the 'do repel you from checking out the movie.

Well, I have a few things going on which may limit my posting the next week or so... First, as some may know, I had a root canal done about two weeks ago now... seemed to be ok, but a little over a week ago, that side of my face went numb - went back and they took out another piece of 'root', thought that would get it back to normal, but 5 days later, still numb... so I'm going to have to sort it out with the dentist, and hopefully not have to go to another 'specialist'...

But, the 'big' deal has transpired just today, as I had to take my dad to the ER - he was generally congested, but after doing a CATscan, it looks like he may have some cancer in his lymph nodes... he is 81, and still lives alone... so looks like some form of assisted living or even hospice is in his immediate future... so as his 'overseer', my wife and I will have to take care of the arrangements for him and everything...

Well, sorry this post is not more 'Gingery', but just letting y'all know what is happening... hopefully these issues will be resolved soon, and I can get back to posting some stuff... have some things in mind, so please stay tuned!

Thanks,
VKMfan

  1. So sorry to hear the news on both counts. Sure hope there is an easy answer to the numbness. As for your dad, I'm hoping for the best! You can be assured that Ginger will give her Cabana Boy as much time off as he needs. In fact, I'm sure she'll be there holding your hand as you resolve these issues. I'm thinking of you, too.

    Take care, Huey!

  3. I'm just green here in the Hollywood blog-scene, but I've already seen, that people here like you very much and I think they'll miss you.

Last fall I was quite ill and had to stay in bed, but I forgot all fever and pain over Classic Movies. So in a way Ginger CAN take you by the hand ...

... while certainly you and your father are in God's hands.

I'll pray for you and your father,
    Clarissa

  4. Thanks for the kind words, y'all... My wife and I meet today with the doctor regarding my dad...looks like he does have cancer in his lungs (not lymph nodes, although one of the docs the other day mentioned something about that) - he was a HEAVY smoker for a long time, but actually quit in the 1980's...definitely bought him a lot more time that way.
But being the 'power of atterney for medical decisions', we have to basically call the shots from here on out, which is pretty heavy stuff... so thanks for the thoughts and prayers, y'all.

  6. Thanks for the kind words, SCD - I am actually doing a bit better - they have me on a 'z=pack' or something, where you start with 6 pills on day 1, then 5 on day 2, etc... and, more antibiotics... so should get me back to normal soon.

Unfortunately, my dad's situation is not too good. We all had a meeting with the doc (dad included), who basically gave him 6 months, if that. You always hear that in movies and stuff, but it is quite different when it is 'for real'. We have him in a 'rehab' facility which also has assisted living, and the hospice level when the time comes...I think he can build enough strength up to be at the assisted living point within 2-3 weeks, hopefully, and be able to stay at that level as long as possible, since it would be the best 'quality of life' scenario for him. Didn't see him today, as he was being transferred from the hospital to the facility..will let him get 'settled' for a day... think he is doing ok, tho - my wife actually talked to him on the phone this afternoon, and he seemed ok with going to the facility - I had to go today to get all the paperwork for him done to get in the place... will see him tomorrow - cool thing about, but he wasn't there yet... the place is only about 5 minutes from my work, and my boss is really cool about letting me 'take care of business' whenever needed... hopefully by next week, he will be 'set'.
Lots of rambling here, but hopefully not too much...

Thanks to all again - hope to be getting going soon with posting... but Ginger understands... :-]
