Just call me ResolutionHuey...

...A little late with these resolutions, but...

...I have been pondering and pontificating about how to properly approach this year in Gingerology... of course, the proposed journey to where it all began is still the 'highlight', but also trying to keep the blog cooking at a 'normal' clip. But first, a picture that is so unbelievably beautiful, it just needs no real elaboration... it's just slap-dawg perfect, as so many are... this would definitely qualify for a 'pic of the week' or whatever...
OK...FIRST... I am going to watch every GingerFilm currently available (hey, to have 73 out of 74 ain't bad!) in chronological order, then post a general review, generally noting the 'GingeryGoodness' of the film, favorite scenes, favorite lines, favorite tunes, and a general overview of the film itself. If you know my 'philosophy' (using that term VERY loosely) regarding movie reviews, I will seldom, if ever, reveal the end of one - although most of y'all know them by heart - I might just do a 'spoiler alert' deal and place the rest in the comment section or whatever. I will also attempt to 'rank' each movie as I go along, compiling the list until the '1-73 rankings by Huey' are revealed. The goal is to get all of these done by her BIRTHDAY... that's just under six months off; I will not have a 'set schedule', as Ginger did not care for structured plans... I WILL, however, try to be as diligent as possible (dang, how hard is it to get me to watch a Ginger movie anyway? :-P ) So, hopefully at least a few a week will be appearing...so stay tuned.

SECOND... I am still in the process of 'organizing' my GingerFiles, both electronic and 'hard copy'... and I will be posting specific stuff such as magazine articles, items of interest, etc... throughout the year. As a 'extra' for the site, I may institute a 'Huey's fave pic of the week' (as alluded to above...let's just consider that one the 'first entry' :-] ), which really may prove difficult in terms of narrowing it down to one at a time - but worth sorting out and meticulously studying pics for the selections (tough work, but... :-] )
THIRD... A long-running 'project' I have been compiling is a 'This Day in Gingerology' feature... which is pretty self-explanatory...but I am just hung up on the fact there are still some days not covered (It's pretty hard to fill out 366 (yeah, I'm including leap year) days with unique events) - I am putting in births/deaths of folks associated with Ginger, as well as recent events from Gingerologists... SO, I am going to try to get that up and running VERY soon.

FOURTH... Bolster the musical portion of the site... I have quite a collection of GingerTunes (again, both electronically and 'hard copy') that need to be placed here for access... just haven't gotten it DONE yet, dang it! In a related issue, video clips would also be an awesome addition - even ones y'all are familiar with, but to just have them 'collected' at one spot for easy access.
... I LUV that pic above - I am quite the audiophile, with a closet full of LPs - yep - vinyl 33-1/3 RPM discs of goodness... and ya know, it usually irks me to see someone NOT handling a record by its edges... but if there EVER was a glaring exception to that retentive trait of mine, it would fall at the feet of our Miss Rogers, of course... Play Frisbee with them if ya want to, Ginger!!! :-)

Well, guess that's enough to deal with... the issue I have is time, like everyone else... different circumstances, but same 24 hours/day... but maybe things will lighten up and Huey can finally give Miss Rogers the attention she deserves.

In the meantime, y'all keep up the great work on your respective sites... it's so great to see so many folks with love for the classic era... at times it's hard not to try to want to 'convert the world', but it is quite unrealistic, and honestly...it's kinda cool to not be 'like everyone else'...ain't it? :-]

Y'all Keep It Gingery...and wish me luck in these Gingery endeavors!

  1. You make sweet&hot prettier, Huey -- by putting beautiful Ginger pics on my blogroll. "Gingery Goodnesses". That's swell, thanks!

Your 'philosophy' is right, not to tell on endings.

You wanna convert people to Ginger? I'll tell ya what Huey: I met a few Jean Arthur adoring people and couldn't really believe it.... Whatever, I was not amused.

Searching a few of my flash-drives I found this from last summer. Now I loaded it up on WordPress:
    http://gingery_pink-research_table.pdf

I was never able to judge what might be the actual Gingery Pink. So let the people judge themselves....

  2. Oh yes, I looked up on my calendar, what'll be on duty on Ginger's birthday. And I made big eyes: On July 16, 2011 will be July 1936.

But doggone it! That'll be Bing Crosby's release of RHYTHM ON THE RANGE!! SWING TIME is one month later. Now, how am I going to handle this? Perhaps involve a leap-month??

  3. Wait a minute....

On July 16, 1936 will be Ginger's 25th birthday. Which is precisely a quarter of a century.

    2011 --- 100 years
    1936 --- 25 years

Ginger you aren't tricking me on purpose???

  4. Awesome! I cannot wait :D Looking forward to seeing these awesome posts throughout the year!

  5. All this sounds so exciting! And I also plan on watching all of Ida's movies in order once I get them all, and I'm really close! Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with everything you're trying to accomplish over here. You've got a great blog that's very informative, so keep it up1 :)

  6. What ambitious resolutions you have! We will forgive you if you discover that you don't have the time to follow through on all of these great ideas.

What I'm most looking forward to? - Your review of Ginger's films in chronological order. I've only seen about 3 or 4 so far - just watched The Barkleys of Broadway last night!

  7. CS:Ginger Pink...I remember that post! You put some great researrch into that - but yes it is pretty hard to figure out the general shade she 'preferred'... now we have a PinkGinger to aide us in that determination...I think I will just say it was the 'Ginger Rogers rose' hue of pink...

    http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/pl.php?n=2954

...and thanks for the kind words regarding the post...but it's pretty dang easy for it to be so cool when the subject is Ginger, right? ...and hopefully the 'time shift' for '36 will pan out to be Gingery as well! Keep up the awesome work on S&H, Clarissa!

ALD1296: Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully I can keep up with things and keep it of interest to all... it's not about seeing how many posts you can do, but the 'quality' of said posts, correct?

JH: - It's so cool to get your fave celeb and collect and watch all their work...it truly is the closest you can come to understanding their personality and traits... even when acting, that stuff typically shines through. Hope it goes well for you this year as well!

Susan: Thanks for the kind words! Hopefully I will be able to review these with some 'different' angles, thus be a bit more entertaining for folks, or at least informative! Glad you saw Barkleys! It is a fave of a lot of Gingerologists... in fact, their dance to 'They Can't Take That Away From Me' is really one of my faves, period...it's just so graceful and poignant... no 'incredible feats' of agility or anything, but just... right. I have begged, borrowed, and stealed (is that a word?) to the point of obtaining all but ONE of Ginger's films, the ever elusive 'HAt Check Girl' - she is in a supporting role in that one...but it would be nice if it surfaces somewhere!
    Thanks again, Susan!

    KIG, y'all!!!

  8. Huey, I gave up that pink-research, because the pink-tones looked different on various screens. It is just not possible to determine the exact RGB with an unprofessional netbook. Well, I guess professional designers know how to set the colors precisely on their highly professional screens.

That Ginger Rose contains various pink shades as well. Just open that photo in ms.paint: You can probably go nuts over looking for your pink needle in that haystack.

Maybe that pdf with various pink shades is the ideal birthday present for Ginger anyway. ;)

  9. I have already an idea for 1936: Columnist Miss Smith being invited for a preview....

    ReplyDelete
  10. Oh, if it's going to be the first preview of the rough cut, you'll probably meet Ginger there. So why don't you just come with me?

    ReplyDelete
  11. Wow! That's a lot of pink, Clarissa! Maybe her favorite shade was the color of the outfit she wore in the Top Hat interview??? It could be all shades, though, like me. My favorite color is pink (if you haven't guessed that yet), and I don't care what shade it is, as long as it really fits in the category of the widely used term, "Pink".

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yes Pinkie, after resignation last summer I began to see it that way too: Ginger has so many shades and potentials in her presentation -- why should one reduce her on just one pink?

That would be swell, to have her 100th Birthday Ceremonial Hall decorated in all those pink shades and Pinkie tapping in pink. Maybe you are the answer to Huey's prayer's.... :)

  13. It's sad there won't be a US stamp for the Gingertennial! We should design one!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I also post...inspired by your mission!

    ReplyDelete
  15. CS: Interview with Ginger? Should be VERY interesting... I have kicked around doing something like that, but who am I to speak for Ginger? I could never 'compose' it and be satisfied with it... now, if someone ELSE did it, that would probably work out well.. :-]

Pink - well, when my daughter drags me down the 'Barbie' aisle at the big box store, seeing all that pink gets me to thinking of Ginger... and the fact that Barbie and Ginger DO favor each other just a bit...well, both blonde and blue-eyed, anyway... BTW, not that I collect Barbies by ANY stretch (My daughter, on the other hand, has a rubbermaid tub overflowing with them) -BUT - I've noticed they are coming out with 'celebrity Barbies', such as Barbera Eden as 'Jeannie', a 'Lucy' Barbie (Red-headed, of course!), etc... so... WHERE'S THE GINGER BARBIE??? Just wondering... ok - that's a weird tangent for ya from Huey-man... :-]

Ron: a GingerStamp - nice! It would be tough to narrow it down to one pic of her, or even 3-4 in a 'series'... but if I were commissioned to do so, I'm there, dude!!!

ok, y'all... going to try to get the 'GingerMovie' thing rolling... funny how time flies... but it will get cranked up here in a day or two...

    KIG!

  16. Oh, I wouldn't dare to interview anybody in the 30s -- at least not seriously. I did interview Fred once, but that was on account of April Fool's Day and that way it finally got tagged/labeled.

Well, I allow myself to write "Clarissa was at this or that event, making her notes", which actually doesn't falsify historical facts: I'm just a little journalist in the background and not really important.

I once saw a Barby couple : It was Fred & Ginger indeed!
