...the cover is a pretty awesome 'hand-tinted' pic of our girl... I tried to find a 'link' to this pic on the web, but to no avail...could it be this is somewhat rare? Probably not, but...it DOES seem like the 'white cover' with Ginger in the 'Pick Yourself Up' dress is the prevalent edition out there... well, anyway, here's the cover:
...as to 'near term', of course, Ginger's 101st is on Monday, so there will be festivities regarding that... of course, the NEXT review, for 'Romance in Manhattan', is on the docket...however, there are a few other things cooking in Hueyland, so that one might be a few weeks, y'all...(which, as y'all well know, translates into a few months... hopefully not THAT bad...)
And, there's other stuff afoot, including a potential Road Trip to Boston for viewing of the Ginger Century Exhibit - I think I've mentioned that to a few of y'all... it's looking like a 'GO', so, stay tuned for a definite confirmation... I've talked to a dude at BU, so that's a starting point... he said the exhibit will be there at least until the fall semester cranks up in mid-September...
SOOOOOO..... until then....
Y'all just keep on Keepin' It Gingery!!!

2018 Alternate Oscars
COOL!!! Hope you can make it, Huey. Blow Oscar a kiss for me. :)
ReplyDelete...will do! It's looking pretty good... we'll go to Maryland first and hang out some - with my wife's aunt and uncle... then journey on to chowd-town, as it's been called...
ReplyDeletePretty stoked about it...hey, maybe Roberta will be there, taking inventory or something...how wild would THAT be?
Well, I'll get some more stuff cranked up this weekend...although we have a few things going on...my dad's house MAY be selling, and I have to go make some 'final arrangements' there... and work is getting a bit more active, too - can't complain about THAT... but hopefully time will allow for Gingery activity...
speaking of which...
KIG, Lady F!!!

Hey I've seen a picture of that copy before, but never seen it on ebay. It must be a rare paperback version. It would be a neat addition though.
ReplyDeleteLucky! I really wish I can go from everyone all talking about it to pics from it. It's just amazing, and I wish I could go. Hopefully you do and have fun! Take a lotta pics!!!!!!!!! :D
Well, I remember getting it from eBay when I was in 'full purchase mode' :-] - I think it wasn't all that much...$5 at best? And of course, I already had a few copies, but just thought, "hey, I haven't seen that one, so...I'll pop on it!" So, I'm kinda glad I snagged it...
DeleteWell, the 'plan' was to move the exhibit to NYC early this year, as you well know - which honestly is only about 200 or so less miles away, but STILL a heap from where you sit and from where I sit... it would be nice if they 'toured' the exhibit...how bout to KC? Fort Worth? (THAT would work for ya, right? -I know that's still a haul for ya, but...at least in the same state, right?) ...it may happen sometime... and yes, although 'those that have gone before me' have WELL documented the exhibit, I will use up whatever picture-taking device(s) I have at my disposal... bank on THAT! AND, I'll try to 'close-up' that cool pic on the 'montage' you and Molly were looking at...
KIG on Gingertennial +1 weekend, GF!!!

That's pretty cool, I never seen it accept a pic on google. Do they have any of the pics in there? Or is it like the recent paperback where they don't have every pic like the hard copy???
DeleteKC would be ok, but Fort Worth!? Even better, it seems far but I've been to Dallas and Fort Worth before and doesn't seem that long.
And please do try to get a picture of that one! :)
well, ya got me curious...so, I went and counted them...the hardback has a honkin' 97 pics in it...while the paperback has only 47...I'm pretty sure the subsequent paperbacks and 'softcovers' have the same 47 pics...
DeleteRoger on that specific pic... I'll also be on the lookout for others which aren't familiar...but dang, I go look in the 'HueyArchives' and find pics that are new to me...
KIG, GF!!!

Huey,
ReplyDeleteI hope you make it to Boston. The exhibition is beyond words! The room is packed with pictures, posters, letters and more so give yourself plenty of time :)
KIG,
E.
...I plan on making a full day of it!!! I guess I need to throw this out... where is there to dine nearby that's good? I figure a 'lunch break', then right back to it!
DeleteThe more I look at pics, it really is pretty nice...honestly, I've 'backed off' on looking at pics, to 'save' some discoveries when I get there!
Thanks for the info, 'e'!
KIG this Gingertennial +1 weekend!!!

I had a very good dinner at an Indian place, http://www.indiaquality.com/ It was in walking distance of BU. Also, there are lots of sandwich shops around (college campus and all). If you want to travel a bit, the public transport is good. You can hop on the "T" and go to "Coolidge Corner", a few stops west of BU. It had a lot to choose from including a grocery store called "Trader Joe's".
DeleteI'm SOOO glad you are going to the exhibition! There is so much there and so much from so many aspects of Ginger's life. It makes for a wonderful showcase of her life and not just a bunch of stuff.
Happy Birthday to you (a little late) and Happy Birthday to Ginger for tomorrow!
KIG! :)
...Indian, eh? I'm pretty big on that...the only 'issue', possibly, would be that I believe we will be leaving out back to Maryland right after we see the exhibit...kinda depends on how the drive goes up there... but I DO want to check out as much of Boston as we can... oh yeah, all that to say, Indian food MAY not be the best to 'travel on'...er, you know... so we may just opt for a sandwich joint - one that is 'local'...
DeleteThanks for the info, 'e'!!! And Happy Gingertennial+1 to ya as well!!

I know of what you speak...i.e. cleaning out a parent's house and selling. A lot of work!! It will be nice when it's done though. Good luck with it.
ReplyDeleteAnd that would be my fantasy, meeting Roberta. On camera she seemed to be the sort you would expect Ginger to have representing her after she was gone...classy and protective of Ginger's image.
...That will be this afternoon... there is an 'investor' that threw a LOW # out there, and we are hearing from the real estate dude that there's a few more interested in it, so we are 'letting it ride', as it were...although it's been 'riding' over two years now...it is in a godforsaken neighborhood - folks keep breaking into it...fully expect one day to show up and it's burned down... so the prices are laughable...my dad (well, his last wife) thought about moving out to the 'country' and building a place back in the 80s...that would have been a wise investment, compared to what we have now... but, I wouldn't really care, except i have two brothers (loosely used phrase there - no help at ALL duing the demise of my dad) who are waiting for 'inheritance checks'...if it were just me selling, I'd taken the first one offering $10k for it.
DeleteOK - well, sorry all that spewed out... but yeah, I'll be messing with that some, although the weekend is kinda weird over there, as all the neighbors get hoopin and hollering... sometimes I just take off work on an afternoon and take care of it...in fact, I think I'll do that Monday...thanks for talking me into it, Lady F! :-]
As for Roberta, it's the tip-top of the 'G-ologist's 'bucket list' to contact and/or meet her...I would really be dumbfounded....she's basically a celebrity to me, ya know? And yes, I love her 'representation' of our girl...that is obviously MY philosophy as well (see the 'poll for best actress' deal...when folks were 'accusing' G-ologists of ballot box stuffing... didn't like those claims at ALL -seldom do I get 'huffy' on comments, but...that was an exception...) - but hopefully one day we will cross paths... I always wonder what questions I'd ask her... guess I need to write those down somewhere and keep them on my person...
Well, KIG, Barbara!
