International Women's Day...

...is today, and will hopefully be well recognized throughout the world, serving as a 'catalyst' for change in bringing equal representation for women everywhere - it's pretty incredible that there are still major shortfalls in women's pay as compared to men for the same work level.
...always loved this pic of Ginger from Fifth Avenue Girl, as she seems to be ready to air some grievances with SOMEbody... and always reminds me of how Ginger - along with encouragement and help from Lela - fought and scrapped for every bit of financial compensation due her.
When Eric Blore and Edward Everett Horton were making much more then Ginger was for the early G&F film series installments, Ginger held out for a better deal, knowing that she was as much a part of 'the franchise' as FS was...and MORE important than EB or EEH were, in terms of box office draw.

And back to Lela, as she was quite the 'renaissance lady'; she was one of the first women to ever enlist in the Marines during WWI (as shown in the pic above), which was pretty cool!  She of course took on many other jobs, and ultimately solidified her role at RKO as a writer / consultant / teacher. She was quite determined to succeed in whatever she undertook, and fought for her rights back when women were just not expected to.

Y'all know I'm not big on 'political' issues and such, but... this one seemed to apply to Ginger quite well....and hope this inspires you ladies out there to push for change where it is needed, in any capacity. And, just to throw it out there, the inequity for women remains even on this DAY, as it is the only 23-hour day of the year...  grrrr....

With that, hope everyone out there has a Gingery weekend, and I'll hopefully get some posting going on here soon!

Until that time,

KIG, y'all!!!
