...the O.G.R.E. is back, y'all!!!

...well, Katie has reinforced her position as Lead O.G.R.E. (that's Official Gingerologist Research Expert to all the new folks out there), in the form of this incredible video of Ginger on some TV special from what appears to be the mid-sixties...Katie found it on YouTube, and it was actually posted there by Panthera Girla, who is another Gingerologist who is in the mix for 'Best New Assistant to the O.G.R.E.' (THANKS, PG!!!)... remember, there are plenty of positions available on the staff here at G-ology... just send in as much Gingery Goodness you can find!!!

UPDATE...it appears the sound is a no-go for the vid, so, here's a link to youTube for the clip:

Ginger in 2016!!!

...just before she starts her dancing, Ginger says 'If the goobers don't like it...' (on her becoming President and how men would feel... no need describing MY thoughts on that scenario!!!) ...thus affirming my use of the term 'gooberhead' when referencing any one of Ginger's five ex-husbands... that ALONE makes this a priceless clip for Hu... of course, Ginger footage from the late 50's - early 60's is a bit rare, and I am just an insane fan for Ginger in this time frame... so it is SO cool to see this for the first time - hope y'all dig it as well!
-----
Hope all is well for everyone out there... it's good that there is 'general closure' regarding the perpetrators of the attacks on Boston...  I know it doesn't erase the loss, but... hopefully healing can begin. Continue to keep the folks affected in thoughts and prayers. ALSO, please keep the victims of the fertilizer explosion in the town of West, Texas in thoughts and prayers... working for the building code, it really gets me that this tragedy might have been prevented if proper precautions were in place...not sure of the history of the plant, but it seems I remember seeing talk of violations in the past for the plant... once again, April rears its uggggly head, y'all... I'm ready to crank out a petition to just eliminate this mournful month from all subsequent calendar years, y'all...who's with me?
-----
As for G-ology, hope to be getting a few things cranked up soon... stay tuned... and thanks SO much for doing so.

KIG, y'all!!!

  1. I was going to watch it, but the video you have, the sound is not working. :/ So I watched it on FB. You might want to fix it though for other people.
Besides that though, the video is really great! I find the song kinda catchy. It's great to see something new like this. Awesome find from Katie.
I'm in for taking the month April away! It's just crazy this week whats happened. First the Boston Marathon and the the Texas Plant. Pretty scary. I live 4 hours away from West, Texas. It's pretty sad what happened to the peoples homes. I guess it's sort of a good thing this plant wasn't closer to where I live. But still pretty bad.....
Well hope everything has been okay over there.
    KIG!!! :)

Glad to hear all is well out there... it's amazing how much bad stuff has happened this last week.. hopefully we have met quota for the year on tragedy and terrorism.

  3. ..wish I knew... there were so many 'variety' shows back then, it's purt near (yeah, 'purt' IS a word...in South Gingerville, anyway!) impossible to figure out...unless there's some type of database that documents all of Ginger's appearances... I know there's a book out there like that, but haven't seen one on eBay for less than $100...a bit steep... but it would be a nice 'resource'... see, this is where a 'hotline' to Roberta Olden would ROCK!!!

KIG, Betsy!!! ...again, awesome choir! :-)

  4. The dance is from the Bob Hope Buick special with Ginger, Bob and Perry Como from 1960. This dance is the highlight of the show, IMO. But there are a few fabulous dresses that Miss Ginger gets to wear and a political theme with Ginger taking over the government.

I agree with both Ginger and Huey, if the goobers don't like it, they can lump it!!

This is such a fab number, I'm going to go watch it again!!

    1. ...nice call, 'e'!!! I just HAVE to get with it in terms of documenting this stuff! At least I got the 'era dead-on - late 50's- early 60s...1960 would be the median... and I think I actually have this entire show SOMEWHERE... she did quite a few with Hope, tho...

Hope this one hangs out on YT for awhile, as I couldn't get the vid to 'download' properly... oh well.

KIG, 'e'! Thanks again for schooling Hu with the GingeryInfo!!!

  5. Hi you all,

That clip is from Potomac Madness - it's a Bob Hope Special from 1960. A satire on the american politics of the time also featuring Perry Como.

It's actually one of my favourite Ginger clip. So amazing to see her do all those different dance numbers! The whole show is amazing actually. Ginger plays "Ginger Money" in follow up to her "Ginger Peachy" from a previous Bob Hope Special.

Well, got to go! Anything else you would like to know... just ask!

    KIG -
    Molly!
