It's Finally May...YAY!!!

...the April showers are finally over, to be replaced with the flowers that bloom into May... especially those that perch so divinely upon round tabletops...  ahem...

...where was I?  ...oh yes - just a 'general review' of the state of Gingerology... it's all good, y'all... first off, I have been 'adding content' to the GingerFilm blogs...primarily links...or at least 'page features' for links...it is quite the task to repeat a feature 70+ times... but consistency is the mantra here at G-ology, so hopefully those will be up and running soon...again, ANY suggestions y'all may have (within reason, of course...I'm not a miracle worker, y'know... :-)  ) regarding the FilmBlogs, just holler at me...

Today (May 1) is also the two-year anniversary of THIS:
...which, from all accounts, was a pretty cool event... Hu was REALLY kicking around the idea of heading out there, not only due to this event, but also with the bonus of my third favorite college football program, Oregon, having their 'spring scrimmage' the day before (4/30/11)... it would have been a cool weekend trip...of course, I would have hunted down the 4R Ranch as well... BUT, as fate would have it, the major tornado outbreak came thru here the Wednesday before, and pretty much locked me in for a week or two (I had decided not to go to Oregon before that happened, and it was just weird how that major 'life-changing' event occurred soon afterward...)  But this 'promo' image is so cool in that it obviously uses the G-ology 'icon' of Ginger, which makes you wonder... does Roberta (Olden, not the fictional character in the G&F film of the same name...) ever jump over here on G-ology? I really like to think so... she was a big part of setting up the Oregon event. so, just for good measure...Hi, Ms. Olden!!! :-)

---

Well, in conclusion, I sincerely hope everyone out there is doing well, getting plans for summer set... ....as for me, I plan to get going on the 'Star of Midnight' review soon... uh-huh, that's right...SOON... :-)

Until then,

KIG, y'all!!!

In remembrance...

...of Ginger, who left this world on this day back in 1995... always a somber day here at G-ology, but watching a GingerFilm or two on this day helps out, to celebrate the awesomeness that is and will always be Ginger Rogers!

...and this day is always a good time to 'reflect' a bit, and to sincerely thank each of y'all for helping to keep Ginger's memory and legacy alive, if just in a small corner of a large blogosphere...hopefully a few folks passing thru have been converted into Gingerologists over these last few years, and that's really what it's all about to me...

...and in that spirit, as always...

KIG!

...the O.G.R.E. is back, y'all!!!

...well, Katie has reinforced her position as Lead O.G.R.E. (that's Official Gingerologist Research Expert to all the new folks out there), in the form of this incredible video of Ginger on some TV special from what appears to be the mid-sixties...Katie found it on YouTube, and it was actually posted there by Panthera Girla, who is another Gingerologist who is in the mix for 'Best New Assistant to the O.G.R.E.' (THANKS, PG!!!)... remember, there are plenty of positions available on the staff here at G-ology... just send in as much Gingery Goodness you can find!!!

UPDATE...it appears the sound is a no-go for the vid, so, here's a link to youTube for the clip:

Ginger in 2016!!!

...just before she starts her dancing, Ginger says 'If the goobers don't like it...' (on her becoming President and how men would feel... no need describing MY thoughts on that scenario!!!) ...thus affirming my use of the term 'gooberhead' when referencing any one of Ginger's five ex-husbands... that ALONE makes this a priceless clip for Hu... of course, Ginger footage from the late 50's - early 60's is a bit rare, and I am just an insane fan for Ginger in this time frame... so it is SO cool to see this for the first time - hope y'all dig it as well!
-----
Hope all is well for everyone out there... it's good that there is 'general closure' regarding the perpetrators of the attacks on Boston...  I know it doesn't erase the loss, but... hopefully healing can begin. Continue to keep the folks affected in thoughts and prayers. ALSO, please keep the victims of the fertilizer explosion in the town of West, Texas in thoughts and prayers... working for the building code, it really gets me that this tragedy might have been prevented if proper precautions were in place...not sure of the history of the plant, but it seems I remember seeing talk of violations in the past for the plant... once again, April rears its uggggly head, y'all... I'm ready to crank out a petition to just eliminate this mournful month from all subsequent calendar years, y'all...who's with me?
-----
As for G-ology, hope to be getting a few things cranked up soon... stay tuned... and thanks SO much for doing so.

KIG, y'all!!!

GingerHair... Awesome in any state!!!

...ok, this well may be the first 'Facebook-inspired' post for Gingerology... The topic? Ginger Pics where her hair is not 'perfectly coiffed' as usual, but is in some state of beautiful disarray...

There's no real rhyme or reason to these pics or caps, just in the order I 'run across them' in the Gingerology MasterFiles... but it is generally only for the screencaps for the reviews up to this point... I'll work on a 'part two' somewhere WAAAYY down the road...

Our first pic is really just an 'action shot' that catches Ginger's hair in 'mid-swoop'...this one's from "Professional Sweetheart", in the uber sassy 'book-throwing sequence'...

These two are from "Finishing School", which employs 'mussed GingerHair' throughout one scene... definitely my fave scene of the film!

Ginger combing out her awesome locks in her abruptly shortened role in "Upperworld"...

...another 'action sequence', this one from 'The Gay Divorcee'... Fred the victim of the Ginger 'do...

"Romance in Manhattan" has a very awesome sequence where Ginger works the hair...here are a few of my fave stills from that sequence...

...and here's one from "42nd Street" (I told ya they're not in specific order) - this one is generally GingerHair in near sleep mode...cool!

...here's another 'getting ready' scene, this one from "Broadway Bad"...actually, Joan's hair is a bit more 'tuffed' here, but that's close enough for Hu...

-----
...well, if there's any I've missed (remember, this is just from Roberta backward -there's MUCHO more from this point forward, as indicated on FB), please inform, and I will edit it into this bodacious post!

Hope all of y'all are having a great weekend!!!

KIG!

...the Roberta files have been moved...

...to the Roberta blogsite!!!
...mainly, the review and the 'Huey Treatment', as well as ALL of the screencaps... ...400+ screencaps... ...yes, that's right... ...so... ...check them out on the site HERE .
...told ya you'll be seeing this one again!  :-)

...as for the 'filmblogs' in general, I'm in the (long) process of setting up info on all of them, which will hopefully once 'established' will be of benefit to all... it is a time-consuming process, since any one 'feature' on a blog has to be replicated 75 times or so, but is 'unique' to the specific film... but hey, it's Ginger, so... nothing but good things, right?

...speaking of good things, congrats are in order to the Lombardians....as their girl (and my fave this year as well) won the 2013 Classic Movie Actress tournament in convincing fashion over Bette Davis... Carole and Ginger were buds to some degree, anyway, and I know they both enjoyed tennis, so something tells me they played a bit when they could.

Hope everyone is having a nice April thus far... so far, so good here...just pollen up everyone's snoot here in South Gingerville, but... we'll survive...

Until then,

KIG, y'all!!!

Classic Actress Tourney - Carole vs. Bette

Well, it's down to the Championship over at Monty's ALL GOOD THINGS... The FINAL matchup should be a classic, which pits two of Hollywood's most enduring stars...

Bette Davis

versus

Carole Lombard

...each of whom were buds with Ginger... so, there's no way we can really 'endorse' one over the other, as both ladies are wickedawesome, and VERY deserving of the title of "Classic Movie Actress Tournament Champion for 2013"...

SO - y'all go over to Monty's and VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!

KIG, y'all!
