...well, here's hoping all you Gingerologists out there have a incredibly Gingery day today, and are able to watch a Gingerfilm or two, listen to some GingerTunes, and just generally channel your 'Inner Ginger' on this great occasion!!!
The pic above is one I 'ran across' in my stash of Gingerbilia, and just thought I'd share it with you...the somewhat 'older' Ginger, but, still just radiant! ...and, you know what? After looking at it, it's kinda hard not to think it is an actual autographed pic! Thanks, Rex, wherever you may be...for obtaining this great pic and sig of VKM!!! Wish I could have been there...
OK, what are y'all gonna DO to-day for our girl's 101st? Unfortunately, I have to work... but I might play a Ginger clip at lunch... :-)
...and tonight I'll most likely watch the next film on the block for review, 'Romance in Manhattan', which is a pretty neat little film, if memory serves...
...I already have ice cream at the ready (low-carb for me, thanks...yeah, I'm one of THOSE...)
...and probably should go out and play some tennis... we're in a 'afternoon thunderstorm' pattern around here, tho, which puts the brakes on that... I wish a lot of y'all had this weather, as there's some 'droughtage' afoot in many areas of the country, unfortunately...
...as for wearing pink, well...heck...can't help y'all there....just don't have any of that in my collection... BUT, I think most of y'all can compensate for it...so... PINK OUT!!!
So, be sure to comment here... as we get ready to jump into August, and 'full travel mode' to the Ginger Rogers (Awesome) Century Exhibit (GRACE...pretty cool, eh?)...stay tuned...
KIG, Y'all!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GINGER!!! :) I think I'll celebrate by finally watching Honor Among Lovers. I couldn't bring myself to watch it before though I've possessed a copy for a couple of years. It was SOOOO bad in quality, but now thanks to Molly I have a very watchable one. Sadly it doesn't appear to be one of Ginger's more memorable roles, but at least I can check it off my list of those watched. My daughter and I are dining out tonight, having a little catching up time. Maybe I'll pick up a pint of homemade ice cream on the way home to enjoy with my movie. Enjoy your day, everyone!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Ginger!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm celebrating by watching a few movies, and I have rootbeer and icecream set for a float. I'm not wearing pink, but I'm going to wear my earrings.
Keep It Gingery!
Hu... thanks for keeping the Ginger Flame alive! :)
ReplyDelete...hope everyone did some Gingery stuff today... it was a pretty good day, even for a Monday!
ReplyDeleteOn to more Gingery adventures...
KIG, y'all!!!

I spent my time looking for Ginger in the Photoplay magazine archives. Check out ...
ReplyDeletehttp://archive.org/stream/photoplay53chic#page/38/mode/2up/search/%22ginger+rogers%22
A wonderful spread on the ever evolving actress known as Ginger Rogers :)
KIG and may the storms pass you by.
nice article, 'e'! I have one or two 'photoplay' mags with Ginger, but this one I have not seen...good to know there is a 'database'...
DeleteWe didn't have many issues, storm-wise the last few days....it's just the '50-50 chance' of an afternoon thunderstorm, and we are getting fair rain amounts...better than some drought years!
KIG, 'e'!!!

That's an interesting article especially because it answers a question I always had. By the time Ginger started her movies with Fred her body seemed to have changed from her first couple of years in film. I was discussing that with another Ginger fan, and she opined that Ginger merely had lost her baby fat. This article mentioning Ginger went on a "slenderizing campaign" provides the answer.
DeleteI browsed through the whole magazine and found the following....
TWO PAGES OF STARS WITH SUNGLASSES
These are two pages of stars with sun glasses. Find Ginger :)
archive.org is a great resource. I've found almost all of Ginger's radio performances in the archive. You can listen on the site or download the mp3 files and listen to them later and again and again and again :) They even have a shot of Ginger and her 1937 Dodge

I recently found the magazines thanks to Gingerology. Someone posted the link in a comment right here. So, thank you, Hu!
I plan to continue my digging. Do you want me to make a list of when Ginger is on the cover for you? I'm making it for me so it would be plenty easy to send it to you.
KIG!
...Lady F - got Ginger... the round glasses were pretty popular back then, eh? ...er, not the best angle of her smile, but...no worries, right?
Delete'e' - thanks - I'll check out more of this...I am in the process of 'transferring' Ginger stuff from my old computer to the new one, so... will have to 'catch up', as it were...but these archives are just mesmerizing... I would love to have all of these mags to rummage thru... Ginger rocks that Dodge! heh, heh....of course, I'm a bit partial to her Duesenberg, but...Ginger would make a Yugo look like a Ferrari!
erosenplatt -- That's great stuff. If you make such a list, I'd love to have it. You can either PM me on YouTube (KerrieGrant) or email me ...

(no spaces just the "at" sign)
...ditto this for me, 'e'!!! Actually, guess I really didn't catch the 'list' part...that would be incredible! Honestly, I would try to post it on the site here, if that's ok...I really want to set up more of a 'database' for all things Ginger...of course, the blog for each movie will hopefully be a good start, but...there's SO much other stuff, such as recordings, magazine articles, etc... it needs to be done!
DeleteThanks, 'e'...to be honest, I've had a rather busy week...but plan to 'catch up' a bit on Ginger by the weekend!
KIG!!!
