Reminder...

..."Weekend at the Waldorf" will be shown at 3:00 Central time tomorrow on TCM...
PLEASE NOTE: If you plan on 'burning' a DVD of it, keep in mind it is just OVER 2 hours in length... so the recording setting you use needs to be...well, over two hours! (I learned this the (sorta) hard way when I attempted to transfer it from VHS to DVD... I am 'old school' - anything on TCM is 'taped', then 'burned'... it's an arduous process, but worth the effort to ensure proper redundancy regarding copies of VKM features... so I have the whole movie, but 'wasted' a blank DVD...)
It is a pretty good movie - has multiple plot lines going on, and they jump back and forth in a pretty fair pattern, which makes the movie move along pretty well - does not really seem like a 2-hour movie. The Ginger role is nice - she plays a famous actress / stage star (a stretch, huh? :-] ) and there are some cool Ginger moments - there is also a pretty good 'plot line' with Lana Turner, also.

  1. I can't wait! I've got it set on the trusty DVR. Then I'll probably put it on tape, since I don't have a fancy schmancy DVD burner.

  2. ...you know, this is sad, but I have digital cable on ONE of my tv's... with a DVR-capable box... but not sure if I have the capabiliy to use the DVR feature, or am paying for it, or what... so, I just record with VHS tape first, then 'burn' over to DVD.

  3. Thanks for your TCM Ginger schedule, how convenient! I plan to dvr all of them. :) Just wish I knew how to get it from the dvr to a dvd, but I'm not a techie.

  4. ...hope it worked out for everyone! I was at work at the time (bleh)...shouldn't there be a rule on TCM that all Ginger movies be in primetime? :-)

...I am not all that technically inclined either, although believe it or not, I happen to be an engineer!
If I can get someone to 'walk me thru it', I can typically figure out stuff, but if left on my own, I'm lost as a goose (whatever that is...)

My grandfather taped me a bunch of Ginger films over months and they are sitting on his DVR... and none of us know how to get them off! I thought one had to burn it straight to DVD but I suppose not.

Hey Huey! Return said he tried to help you with the signature and you got confused again so he passed off the duty to me and it worked! What did he tell you?

  6. ..well, I think in that particular case, I was beyond a 'walk-thru' and just needed a 'spoon-fed' solution! :-)
    Huey...heh heh. OK, Ms. 'S'!
