...Odds and Ends...

...well, first off, HI!  Sorry I've been out of pocket here for the last few weeks... the kids are back in school, so... they are the priority now, of course... but things appear to be 'setting in' with them, so... I look to get back to 'normal Gingery programming' now!
...speaking of which, some Gingery Thoughts and Occurrences to follow...

...looks like Kat has a new class to take over in the Mother Country... HERE is a link to what is to be 'A London Celebration' course of study for Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers!
I'm pretty sure Kat or someone else over on FB has rung this up, but The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has acquired  what is described as "The Spectacular Dress worn by Ginger Rogers in the 1944 film Lady in the Dark" - which could ONLY be the 'Jenny Dress'...  as well as one of Fred's original 'formal tail-suits'... the 'class' is also in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the release of the RKO film 'Top Hat'.
Overall, sounds like a great event for Gingerologists...so those near London Town please check it out... and REPORT back to us!!!

...Gingerologists in proximity of the Empire State can catch a new production of Lynette Barkley and Christopher McGovern's musical Backwards in High Heels, which will run from August 13 to September 20 at the Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford, New York.
It has overall garnered good reviews, although I'm sure any of us would go over it with a fine-tooth comb and sort out the inaccuracies... hey, it's what we G-ologists DO, right? There are lots of classic tunes to be heard, including 'Fascinatin' Rhythm' (not sure where Ginger connects with that tune...), 'Let's Call The Whole Thing Off', 'Embraceable You', 'Let's Face the Music and Dance', 'A Fine Romance', among others.
...this pic is from a previous run of the show, and is probably not the same actor/actress that will be on stage in N.Y. - It kinda looks like she has a Kitty Foyle dress on... see, there I go with the 'inaccuracies'... oh, well - hopefully some of y'all can catch the show and, again, report your findings to us!

...for those susceptible to imbibing, HERE is the 'recipe' for the 'Ginger Rogers' cocktail, brought to you from...none other than DisneyParks! They've come quite a way from the juice and cookies set, for better or worse...
 ...it's pretty ironic that there is a cocktail named for our girl, even though she was a teetotaler...  I just dig the pic above to see 'Ginger Rogers' written in 'Disney font' - well, a somewhat reasonable facsimile thereof, at least - which reminds me I need to get rolling on the Ginger - Disney connection post... anyway, while we're all getting tipsy, here's another drink that provided a 'Gingery Moment' for me a few months back, courtesy of a local eatery's menu:
...'Gingerita' indeed!  Is this an homage to the fact that Ginger and Rita were distant cousins? Only in my head, y'all...  AND, check out the one directly above it...'Southern Gent'...well, shucks, y'all... This Southern Gent will always be paired with Gingerita, no doubt about THAT...

==========

 ...HERE's a neat deal... which makes me wonder... how many Rogers ARE in Missouri, and are related to 'Daddy John', thus Ginger?
 ...of course, Mr. Dustin here is the Rogers, which makes you wonder...was he just LOOKING for a girl named Ginger to yield...Ginger Rogers as a wife?  "Hey, y'all... I'M married to Ginger Rogers..." ...yeah, that makes PERFECT sense to me! ...and, hope these folks don't mind that I placed them on here... but hey, if your name is 'Ginger Rogers', you may very well get play on Gingerology... and in this case, I dang near just wanna go on this registry site and pop on getting something for them... y'all might want to as well... it would be a neat way to display your Gingerology Badge, and do something cool in the process...

......THIS... no, wait a minute... THIS is a very cool post or whatever, which includes an original newspaper ad for all ten of Ginger and Fred's films! Oh yes, I am 'borrowing' each of them for my GingerCache... Thanks, Immortal Ephemera, whoever the heck you are!!! ...and, BTW, the Scratch-and-Sniff Quack Attack tickets are interesting, at minimum...

==========

...and yet ANOTHER GingerFilmFest... well, a weekly viewing of a different GingerFilm, at the Jackson County, Oregon, Library... it's in Talent, Oregon (apropos, as Ginger had an infinite supply of it), which is just south of Medford.   The schedule: 9/2 - Swing Time; 9/9 - Stage Door; 9/16 - Bachelor Mother; 9/23 - The Major and The Minor; and 9/30 - Storm Warning. Hope some of the good folks in the Pacific Northwest can make it to some of these...

==========

...well, that's all I got for now... I DO believe... ...but if not, I'll get back with y'all... PROMISE!

Until that time...

KIG, Y'ALL!!!
