Thanksgiving at Ginger's...

Greetings, all you Gingerologists out there! Sorry it's been so long between posts, but this time of year just gets pretty hectic, as you well know.
Speaking of which, let's have an 'inside look' at what the typical Thanksgiving at Ginger's is like... through the use of pictures and captions, of course...

...this is pretty much the perfect Ginger Thanksgiving picture, for promotional purposes, of course... but what was the 'real life' Ginger Thanksgiving like? well, glad you asked...

For starters, although Ginger usually has the proceedings at her place, more often than not, she has to travel home from some exotic locale, such as Paris, Rio, or Schenectady... here we see our girl at the ticket counter, haggling with who appears to be the pilot himself...maybe she's requesting that they drop a few frozen turkeys on Kate's house before landing at LAX...

Sometimes, she is close enough to home to catch a train instead, which is usually a good bit less hectic that the airport... check out the rocking 'molded' camera case... gotta get pics of the friends and family...

Well, of course Ginger (and Lela) are the chefs of the day, so collection of the foodstuffs are the first order of business upon arrival...here we see Ginger working the chickens...well, actually, she's just performing a diversionary tactic so she can sneak up on one of those gobblers behind her... and she wields a mean axe, y'all...

...we all know that Ginger is a model host, and here we see her guiding guests to designated dining areas...she's set up multiple tables in the tennis court area... notice she's on skates... for maximum time management...

...as for the meal preparation, Ginger's a great chef, of course...but, like all ladies of the house around Thanksgiving, there's moments which are not as joyous, as we depict above...but our girl perseveres, and creates a fabulous feast, as usual...

...although few photos remain of Ginger's Thanksgiving throwdowns, here's one that has been recovered for posterity... this appears to just be an appetizer course... note the monogrammed china... Ginger never leaves anything to chance... ...and as for other Thanksgiving favorites at the table, well, maybe we can make some 'Gingery Connections' of sorts... for example...

...as for mashed potatoes... er, isn't that a dance of sorts? I doubt if that's what Ginger's doing above, but she IS defining the term 'work that skirt' QUITE completely...

...string beans - well, dude was pretty lanky for the time... WHY these two didn't get hitched is a MAJOR mystery for the ages...

...there's also dressing, or, if you prefer, stuffing...as in...well, a stuffed varmint... along with a painfully cute young Ginger...

and of course, Ginger's famous rolls... served in a MOST beguiling manner...

...Ginger cranks out all manner of desserts as well...in addition to the obvious ice cream sundae, she is also quite the pie-making one... just look at that dexterity with the knife... watch out, gooberheads...

...and of course, there's also (ahem) ...cheesecake...

...well, after the feast, everyone goes outside and plays a little football to burn off the meal... it's weird, but it always seems most all the guys end up on Ginger's team...
------
Some of the older folks stay in, and opt to watch the games on TV... of course one of the traditional matchups on Thanksgiving is...

...The Dallas Cowboys, versus...

...The Detroit Lions. Yeah, still not 100% sure this is a lion, but... for our purposes here...it's a lion.

...after that, an impromptu jam session ensues, with traditional Thanksgiving polka music the call of the day... Ginger breaks out her harmonica shortly after this pic was taken...

..then, Ginger just gets a chance to catch up with the folks... although here it appears they are presenting her with various gifts and presents... as they well should...one should ALWAYS have gifts (or, presents...dang, what's the difference?)  to present to Ginger... hmmmm....maybe you PRESENT gifts, while you GIVE presents...  no matter, just be sure to keep Ginger awash in items, no matter the occasion.

...and of course, she catches up on all the girl talk... I'm sure y'all can come up with a funny caption for this pic, so... have at it in the comments section...

...and she also gets to see all the young 'uns... Little dude in the middle... dude... wish I were YOU, dude... DUUUUUUUUDE....

...well, after Ginger says her last farewells to the guests, she chats a bit with Lela prior to boarding the GingerJet, which will whisk her away to...

NYC, so she can roll in the Macy's Parade... which typically is Thanksgiving MORNING, but due to Ginger's schedule, they opted to move it to late afternoon...only time in history that's happened...you can look it up... well, only if you want... there really isn't any record of it... anyway...  that's quite a dress you have there, Miss Rogers...

...then it's on to Black Friday...of course Ginger totally circumvents the throngs of consumers by special invitation 'pre-sales'... here she appears to have scored the latest I-Pad tablet doo-hickey... I'm sure it's the latest and greatest....

...it appears that the Santa's Union caught wind of Ginger's presence in a nearby department store, and descended upon her, bearing gifts, of course... it looks like the Santa whose lap she is sitting upon (careful, y'all...) is fixing to pass out... I'd been gone LONG before that...  ...and HOW insane would the possession of that Ginger stocking be in yer collection?

...well, once she escaped the North Pole rejects convention, Ginger just walked to Central Park... with everyone else out doing the 'Black Friday' deal, a good time for her to pause and reflect on the past year, and the new challenges ahead which she will attack with Gingery gusto...
------
...and with that, all of us here at Gingerology hope that you and yours have a most happy, reflective, and safe Thanksgiving weekend, and of course...

Keep It Gingery!!!

  1. Hi there Huey,

HA HA HA! A very funny and clever account of Ginger's Thanksgiving Day, particularly bombing Kate's house with frozen turkeys. :) And I loved the pics to illustrate the Cowboys vs. Lions game. This year though it's the Pack vs. Lions. GO GREEN BAY!

So are you doing another deep fried turkey this year? It makes my mouth water thinking about it. I'll be having turkey with the T-Man who moved to Pennsylvania a couple of weeks ago.

Here's wishing you and your family a joyful Thanksgiving
