HAPPY GINGERTENNIAL +2, Y'ALL!!!

...well, I just rounded up a heap of my fave GingerPics (it's pretty tough to just pic a few...) for the occasion...of course, the most special one for me is the last one, which I captured while touring the GingerCentury exhibit in Boston... it's just soooooo cool... :-)  It's hard to believe it's been 2 years since we were in Independence... we may get back out there sooner or later (actually, the folks we stayed with out there (my wife's cousins) are heading HERE for Thanksgiving...) ...but I would love to 'explore' more of the neighborhood, hopefully without getting in trouble... we had to meet our hosts for lunch on Gingertennial Day back in 2011, so it was unfortunately an abbreviated visit to 100 West Moore... but it was still a cool 'one shot' experience I'm glad materialized...along with meeting Kat and Baby, of course! :-)

...hope everyone out there has an incredibly Gingery day!!! Wear pink if ya got it...honestly, I don't... so I'm opting for 'Gingerology Green' instead... Ginger would be OK with that, I think... :-) ...go play a few sets of tennis...or even table tennis!  I NEED to get on the court, but... it IS a work day tomorrow...bleh... If I weren't taking off the rest of the week for vacation, I would have DEFINITELY taken off tomorrow... it's been done before, you know... :-)    seems like a lot of smiley deals on this post... naturally!!!

And I hope you can catch a GingerFilm, listen to a few GingerTunes, and just generally celebrate the life and legacy of Miss Ginger Rogers!!!

...I know I'm going to!!!

KIG, y'all!!!

  1. Happy Birthday to Ginger! :)

I want to say thanks for getting the last pic when me and Molly had requested it! The pic is really nice, and very different from the majority of Ginger pics.

I'll most likely where my Ginger shirt, which is actually green lol! I'll be having a marathon like I said, and possibly listen to some tunes.
I remember before I found Ginger, I was obsessed on learning tennis. This was in 6th grade I think. So super duper looooong time ago. I got myself a racket and tried to learn. But, I'm not the athletic kind, so I got a bit tired of it. Although I still find the sport interesting. And knowing that Ginger loved it, is a bonus!

KIG!!! And I cannot wait for that movie night us gingerologists are having! :D

    1. ...I knew a few of y'all asked about it... I'm just glad I 'captured' it with the camera I had, which has kind of fritzed out... maybe by the next GingeryTrip we embark on, I'll have an uberphone to take pics and relay them easier.

GingerTennis...yeah, I always feel like I need to get out and exercise when I see Ginger cranking out the racket...

The GingerFilmBash should be pretty awesome! Hopefully everyone can get access to a film and we can 'sync' it up!

Hope ya had a great Gingery day, GF!!!

  3. Happy Ginger-tennial + 2 (and no, Huey, I haven't patented the "-tennial +" concept, so you're on safe legal ground!).

In honor of her 102nd, I did an entry about her weird relationship with Howard Hughes (he also figures into Carole Lombard's life). Then again, virtually anything associated with Howard's personal life can be described as "weird":

BTW, saw "Lucky Partners" today and thought it had some charm -- not a great movie by any means, but Ginger had good chemistry with Ronald Colman, and Jack Carson was good in a Ralph Bellamy "third wheel" role. Somewhere, I've seen that title associated with Lombard while she was at RKO; I don't know if she didn't like the script or was still in dramatic mode at the time.

    1. Ol' Hugh (yes that's where 'Huey' sources from...my middle name is Hughes) was at best weird...and honestly quite a bit worse than that... glad Ginger didn't hang around too long with that dude...

...as for Lucky Partners, yeah, it's a bit 'far-fetched', and thus a somewhat weak tale... but the folks in it do their best to make it viable...

...and good to know I am not in legal hot water...I've got enough issues! :-)

  4. Happy Birthday Ginger to you too, Hu! Love the pics, especially the last for its intensity. Old Howard Hughes was actually mentally ill so weird is going to stick to him pretty hard. I'm glad Ginger got away from him too.

I managed to watch just the Gingery parts from "Tales of Manhattan" and "Weekend at the Waldorf" today. Not too bad for a Gingery fix. I like "Lucky Partners". The ending is weak, with the courtroom business, and that hurts it but the radio version skips that and is better for it, IMO.

I hope you had a Gingery day and enjoy your time off that is coming up.

    KIG,

    1. ...yes, it was really sad about Hughes, really... a very bright man, pioneer, financially savvy... but had a really tragic ending.

Well, 'pieces' of GingerFilms work well... I watched a few of the 'tribute' vids, but not a full movie... weeknights are just pretty dang hectic with two young 'uns... but hope to check some more out soon... of course, Top Hat is next in line, so I'll probably crank that one up!

Hope ya had a gingery day also, 'e'!!!

and of course, KEEP it Gingery!!!

    1. Glad you liked that pic, GP! It was a cool find in the exhibit... even tho I had 'prior knowledge' of it :-)

It's been awesome to set up a close group of G-ologists...FB has brought in many new folks to the 'cause', which is really why Gingerology exists...to inform, enlighten, and entertain anyone wandering by who may be interested about Ginger!!!

and thanks SO much for all the incredible Gingery Goodness you have given us, GP! I'm not sure what your title should be here, but it HAS to be a very exalted one! :-)

      KIG!!!
