Greetings From...

...Maryland!
We made it in yesterday... went through a few of the Smithsonians today (didn't see any Gingerbilia, tho...) - and hit the Lincoln Memorial...dang, it's pretty crowded on a fair Saturday!
Anyway, heading out for Boston in the morning - should be an interesting journey - hopefully Sunday driving thru NYC will be a bit easier than a typical weekday.
Hope y'all get to check out 'GingerDay' on TCM, which cranks up in mere hours... I should have DVR'd it, but...oh well... if anyone does catch any 'special features' they have in-between movies, hopefully YouTube will be utilized...
Also, sorry about the 'Day In Gingerology' feature...I was going to just put all the 'vacation days' on the site at once - but again, wanted to get a jump on the trip, so... ya know, memory is always the first thing to go...or is it eyesight?
I'll try to 'check in' every once and awhile... but the posts will be rather brief, as an iPhone will be the mode of posting... but hopefully pretty informative nevertheless...
Until then...
KIG, y'all!

  1. That's cool you're there, hopefully having a ton of fun!
Hey remember that pic you asked about on my recent Ginger pics post. It was Ginger playing the piano on the set of Once Upon a Honeymoon. You asked about the guy next to her, I figured out who it was. I read from a site that has the same pic that it's the director, Leo McCarey.
Just thought to let you know. :)
Have a great time! We're going to Dallas and Fort Worth on Aug. 17. Should be interesting!

  2. ..fixing to leave out here in a minute...we are about 15 minutes outside Boston (amazing the price difference....location matters, I guess...) - as long as we can get a parking space, we're good.
Hope DFW is great for y'all...I'd like to get back out there...well, actually would like to hit Austin-San Antonio...
Thanks for the info about the pic - thought it may be a director... Leo did an interesting job with that film.
Well...off we go! I will post tonight...looks like I might be able to post pics, as we have my daughter's computer, and we can download pics into it.
    KIG!

  3. We been to Austin and San Antonio before. Nothing gingery there, but they are fun to go to. One time we went to San Antonio, and this one antique store had a lot of Ginger items. I was able to get some, it was pretty awesome. :)
Can't wait to see more pics even though I've seen most. It's just awesome to see!
I had recorded all the films just to see if there was any video, but none. I saw other actors and actresses stuff. Well hopefully TCM or someone on youtube can post a video of it.
    Have great day!

    1. ...thanks, GF11! It was an incredible event... I knew I would be pretty hyped about it, but it really did sorta take my breath away when I walked in with all that incredible Gingerbilia in one room...still can't believe I saw it all!
...good to hear there are places where Gingerbilia is available... it's just weird there isn't more... oh well, all the more special when you DO find it, right?
      KIG, GF!!!

  4. Glad to hear the trip is going so well. Just in case you are going back through Maryland and the scheduling works out, the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring, Maryland is showing "Monkey Business" on Friday, August 17th and Sat the 18th! Here is the link:
    http://www.afi.com/silver/films/2012/v9i3/marilynmonroe.aspx#monke

The theater is 20 minutes by car north and east of downtown DC and about an hour south and west from downtown Baltimore. Since you didn't catch any of the Ginger movies on TCM, neither did I :(, seeing Ginger on the BIG screen would make up for it :)

Looking forward to pics from the Ginger Rogers Retrospective in Boston!

    KIG!

    1. dangdangDANG!!! That would have been really special, y'know? What is cool about that is, the folks we are staying with (my wife's aunt and uncle) go to AFI ALL of the time...one of their fave places...and they are BIG movie fans...her uncle is big on oldies... well, maybe they can go catch it one of those days...I need to 'file a request' for a Ginger movie to be shown at the Alabama, our classic theatre in B'ham... they've shown a few GandF ones here and there, but haven't caught them, unfortunately.
thanks for the info, anyway, 'e'!!! I'll be posting more stuff regarding the trip in a few days...
      In the meantime -
      KIG!
