...a rare 'non-Gingery' post to wish an incredibly Happy Birthday to...

...Miss Barbara Eden!!!
If there's anyone who can garner a spot in the posts of Gingerology other than VKM herself, it's this awesome, incredible lady... TRULY one of my all-time favorites... she was my first 'crush' or whatever ya wanna call it, WAAAY back in the early 70's...Jeannie definitely grabbed my attention, even then!

Most of these pics were compiled by...er...dang it, I can't remember...but a hearty 'THANKYEW!!!' to whomever compiled them...

...no words are left to utter after that...none whatsoever... :-P

Of course, there IS a 'Ginger Angle', as Barbara and Ginger were in a movie together, 'Quick, Let's Get Married'; or, The Confession'; or, 'Seven Different Ways' (note: when a movie is known by three different titles, there's your 'red flag' regarding it...oof) - anyway, I thought how can this film NOT be at least DECENT with Ginger AND Barbara in it????
...exactly MY reaction, Jeannie!

Well...it WAS possible, VERY unfortunately... it's 'watchable', but just by a bit...
...er, even the fearfully-drawn poster couldn't save this one, y'all...

...one of the few scenes I endorse...well, that's obvious, of course...love Ginger's hair 'shading' here... and Barbara as a redhead is different to life-long Jeannie fans, but...yeah, it's not that tough to adapt to...
Maybe on subsequent viewings my opinion will change on this one... but for the record, Ginger LOATHED this film, so...ditto for the Hu-ster... even tho she liked most everyone IN the film...of course she also got to 're-unite' with Ray Miland in it, but after production they were on the 'outs' due to the film's floppiness...

Ok, well, here's a few more wickedawesome Barbara pics, because...it's her BIRTHDAY!!!

...this pic is a keeper, darn tootin'!!!

...someone should use this one for their avatar... :-]

...OK, y'all, Keep It Gingery...AND Barbara-Eden-eee!!!

  1. Barbara is so identified with Jeannie that it's easy to forget what a terrific comedic actress she was, in all sorts of roles. (Let's not forget that in the late '50s, she was one of the stars of the TV adaptation of "How To Marry A Millionaire.") A great lady, and many happy returns to her!

  2. hmmm...would like to see that millionaire show!!!
..the only 'non-jeannie' role I remember her in was the TV version of 'Harper Valley PTA'...a goofy movie, but... she MORE than offset any goofyness...

I reckon somebody out there has a Barbara Eden blog...I should go check that out...

  3. Indeed Jeannie was an iconic tv character, and it's hard for Barbara Eden to escape the image. But I was browsing through her tv appearances, and she had guest appearances on a long list of good shows. I should celebrate her birthday by watching "Quick". I hate to admit it but there are a few Ginger movies I still haven't watched, and that is one of them. Hard to believe she is 78.

  4. ...I probably need to obtain some old Jeannie episodes... I love her on Andy Griffith as the manicurist...one of my fave Andy shows...he sits her down after her mere presence wreaks havoc on Mayberry, and he (more or less) tells her, "Now, I don't know if you've noticed, but nature has been good to you...I mean REEEEEEEAL good..."

Well, hope you like 'Quick' better than I did... I'll watch it, obviously, but it's hard to shake how Ginger felt about it... she does her usual awesome performance, tho...
