Memorial Day...

Hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend... but also pausing to remember the fallen heroes that defended our country over the decades. A humble thanks to all the men and women who have served, are serving, or will serve for our country.
Also, a reminder (especially for Maggie!) that TCM is airing "The First Traveling Saleslady" tomorrow morning at 6 am Eastern... a cute movie, significant for two things (well, other than Ginger's presence, of course...): This was the LAST RKO Radio movie ever made... and, was also one of the early roles for Clint Eastwood, as well as Carol Channing's second role (always thought it was her first, but TCM has her in one before this one...) Anyway, early roles for those two, in addition to James Arness, a.k.a. Marshal Dillon from 'Gunsmoke'.
Another random bit of info... the WB Archive Collection has cut prices - most are now $13.99, so getting quite reasonable... again, the Ginger titles available are: "Tom, Dick and Harry", "Once Upon a Honeymoon", "Having Wonderful Time", "Perfect Strangers", "Weekend at The Waldorf", and "Fifth Avenue Girl". They release about 10-12 new ones every couple of weeks, but it seems that recently, they have been delving into the more 'recent' titles from the 70's and 80's...
A final note - it appears that my dad is at the end of the road... he will probably not make it through the weekend. Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers... we are all doing ok, knowing that it is his time to pass into the great beyond.
Again, everyone have a great and safe weekend!
KIG!

  4. I'm already prepared for Jean's 19th. A few days ago I was a wee bit afraid of that June 19th. But I photographed dozens of flowers outdoors, to choose the most beautiful 34 ones and among those I choose 5 truly gorgeous. They're already uploaded as draft and now I see, that having "passed over" can really cause very beautiful sights. Well, I chose the expression "over", because it's positive: She not just left us, she went to a certain "great beyond" (as you said and I really love this expression!). I have a very close person there too - beside Jean* - and one day we'll also see all those wonders they already see.* This is a miracle. - Isn't it?

  5. I voted "good" this time, because I believe, that it all will turn out to be good. This is what God always wanted and Jesus said so too.

  9. I'm sorry about your father!! I know you and your family cared about him a lot, trying to keep his best interests in mind. Best wishes to everyone! And I'm not a prayer, but I'll send one out to you and yours, however that goes.

  10. Thanks to all for the kind words, thoughts and prayers... he is barely hanging on as of this 'post'... it is honestly a 'could be any moment' type situation... we have been to the facility a time or two, but he is unresponsive, and it's tough to see - so really nothing we can do at this point, except wait for the call. Going thru all his 'personal effects', seemed like he had a lot of friends over the years, and was quite active in certain circles - so that makes me feel pretty good that he led a pretty satisfying life, it appears.
Hopefully I can get a few things going on here, but honestly, may be out of pocket this week... thanks for your patience.

    Sincerely,
    VKMfan (PG Huey)

  11. Don't worry about Gingerology, Huey. I hear Ginger is very generous in the time off she gives to her cabana boy. So let time pass and spend it with family rather than online. The best therapy for these tough times is hugging the little ones. It helps put this cycle of life into perspective. So do that and put Gingerology aside until you feel more like posting. We'll be here when that happens.

    All my best!

  12. Thanks, Fioraon... yep, she is great to her employees, if you can ever get past the interview process... :-]

Family is doing well... he had been declining for quite sometime, so his final days were not as much of a shock - again, it was time for his transition into the next life...

I will probably get a few posts in here and there... good to take your mind off of things, you know?

Thanks again for the kind words, Lady Fioraon!

    Sincerely,
    PG Huey
