...just an 'extra' pic...

...the last pic from the previous post - here's another one form that 'session'... maybe a little less 'come hither' look, but still very beautiful! ...you know, this is from some other movie, not Follow the Fleet... I am pretty sure of it...man - see, I should KNOW this stuff!!!

  1. ok... I am going out on a limb and say it is from 'Star of Midnight'... an educated guess, at best, w/o actually going back and watching it...hmmm..that is really not a bad idea... maybe I can keep up with the plot this time! :-)

  2. Ginger is so gorgeous in this picture! I think I definitely love her as a blonde, rather than a brunette. I really want a double breasted coat like her.

On a different note, I can't believe how many blogs there are devoted to Ginger - it's so awesome! Thanks for the cool pics!

Oh, and is that TCM schedule up to date? Just wondering :)

  3. Yeah, definitely she looks hotter as 'blond' than as brunnette, at least for me.

Hannah is right, it's incredible the great sites you can find here about her (I just discovered it yesterday and... I had to join ;)) Thanks for sharing.

  5. I found a picture of Ginger and Fred from FTF, and she's wearing that outfit! I've posted it over at my blog, if anyone's interested in taking a look!

jwalker, I can easily see it in Star of Midnight. It looks like something Donna Mantin would wear, doesn't it?

  6. ...Thanks, AC - it is from FTF! I sometimes try to 'outguess' myself on stuff... Actually, I think I was thinking about the pics where she has a "captain's hat" on - you know, the type which is white, but with a dark bill and an anchor patch on it - which would seem to be from FTF, but is ACTUALLY from 'Upperworld' - when dude pulls her out of the river (now I'm trying to remember why she was in the river...oof) - and she wears his overcaot and hat on the way home. Thanks for the clarification!!! I ALWAYS need plenty of that!!! ;-)

  7. Hannah - The TCM schedule should be accurate... I need to go double check on TCM.com - they run it out 3 months in advance. Typically it is right on 'schedule', but every now and then they 'pre-empt' something if a big event happens - usually if a star dies. Whenever Paul Newman died, they showed his movies all day, which weren't originally scheduled - and actually, 'Weekend at the Waldorf' was pre-empted - but they show that one somewhat often, so no big deal.
Hopefully this answers your question... ask me what time it is, and I will tell you how to build a watch...sorry! :-)

  8. Maria - you will be glad to know that we had a 'poll' a bit back, with the simple question: Ginger - Blonde or Brunette? And Blonde won in a landslide!!! ...actually, I will tell you I was the ONLY one who voted on brunette, most likely to work the 'underdog' side of things!!! It was interesting, tho, that her career was really at its apex when she was brunette (well, career w/o Fred, I guess...) you know, Kitty Foyle, Academy Award, Highest paid actress, etc... but yes, in the final analysis, she will always be known as a blonde, and its pretty much impossible to argue how devastatingly beautiful she is as one!

  9. @ jwalker: 'Whenever Paul Newman died'
HAHA you say that like it's more than I one time occurrence.

Haha you are so funny. Didn't you establish that picture was from Follow the Fleet in the last post?

  10. ...ok, I admit...that DOES read pretty funny in retrospect, although the actual topic is not funny... see, I can be funny even when being serious...

BTW, I'm not sure, but the outfit Ginger is wearing in the picture above MAY be from the 1936 RKO-Radio feature, "Follow the Fleet"...

Second BTW, thanks for the 'reset' on the Sap...it is oozing into my computer as we speak... man, that doesn't sound right...

  11. It sounds like your computer will explode soon. I HOPE YOU NOTED MY NOTE AT THE TOP! Because I described the major issue during the soup eating scene, and I'm afraid people won't read it then complain...

    Lauren

    PS MAY? It definitely is.

  12. ...Well, I noted your note (with redundant-like redundancy) (sorry -just couldn't resist :-] ) ...don't worry! I'm sure it is fine - as for me, I have kinda learned to 'weed thru' the skips and bad stuff, and try to keep in mind how old these movies are...it's a flying wonder ANY of them are still exisitng, much less watchable...
BTW... whenever Jen can get 'Perfect Strangers' going (no pressure, Jen :-) ..JK!!!), it really looks like we are down to 'Hat Check Girl' and the two shorts... woah.
BTW #2 - have you heard from Beth lately? guess she is a bit occupied in school...it can get pretty hectic, especially for the first year. Hope she is doing ok!

...when I was in college, I had to take classes in a gravel pit full of chipmunks and horseflies for 12 hours, then walked home uphill in the snow and brimstone, which took 6 hours, then had to plow the back 40 and plant rhubarb and bok choy for another 12 hours, then walk back uphill to the pit took another 6 hours, and...well, you get the picture, Missy!!!

  13. Bok choy? That small thing? It's so delicious.

College is pretty hectic but there is a TON of free time, if you know where to find it. :)

  14. ...well, you are right about the free time... actually, I went to a 'commuter college' - well, University - and by the time I was into my field of study, over half of the classes were at night, just because so many folks worked all day, and did school at night. So, daytime was slow waiting for class...studying was ok, but you can only do that so much....
    Bok Choy - Bok Choy - Sis-Boom-Bah!
...Not sure where that weird dissertation from this morning came from... sometimes it is cathartic to write stuff out 'stream of consciousness' style, and see what happens...
BTW...HOW far off-topic (VKM Pics) are we NOW??? :-]

  15. "cathartic to write stuff out 'stream of consciousness' style"
I know what you mean. If you see me doing run on sentences, that is simply brain to paper.

"HOW far off-topic (VKM Pics) are we NOW???"
I'm ace at getting off topic. This is why I can't write essays. Before the paragraph is over I'm itching for a change!

PS What is this ---> "Bok Choy - Bok Choy - Sis-Boom-Bah!"

  16. ...well, just getting into the football - cheer spirit for the weekend... you know, Rah Rah Rah, Sis Boom Bah!!! er... actually, it's just another one of those 'left field moments'... from PG Giza.

  18. Thanks, Juliette! Well, yes, I do have that one, as well as the movie...and it is cute as all get out! And from Ginger's first movie, it is pretty 'mandatory' for any VKMfan! Hope all the other 'Gingerologists' on here enjoy it!
That gets me to thinking, I probably need to add some more 'links' to clips... in fact, I may try to do a poll pretty soon, with 'what is Ginger's best solo music number'... and have clips of each on the post...
