...on the docket for the 2014 TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood!!! This link goes to the schedule - see 'Chinese Multiplex 4', at 8:00 P.M. - Saturday, April 12, 2014!!! FINALLY something cool happens in APRIL!!! Click the HCG box on the schedule to get a description...
...that's AWESOME, INCREDIBLE, EARTH-SHATTERING news!!! ...even tho... from Huey's current locale, they may as well be screening it on Neptune... BUT, there are rumors that it may be rolled at the MOMA Festival in NYC as well...which MAY be doable for Hu, but would still be somewhat of a logistics and chronological challenge. Maybe TCM will roll it at a festival in Atlanta or New Orleans or somewhere in the general proximity of South Gingerville...
But, if not, there's a pretty solid likelihood it will make it to DVD in the near future, since Fox put out quite a few GingerFilms in their archives collection a year or so back... and I've been informed that they have merged with TCMshop.com, so... promising, indeed.
Of course, there was a tenacious catalyst behind this eventual grand unveiling...and, she's one of US - Ginger Peachy!!! She has lobbied various parties for quite sometime in order to get this film out in the light of day...encourage the owners to get a restoration of it completed... and to get it rolled at this festival, and hopefully many others! SO, with that, she has assumed the title of GingerologistSupreme, which is... well, generally just means she is infinitely AWESOME!!! :-) So, if ya get a chance, stop by her blog, or contact her on FaceBook, to give her a great big bodacious THANKS for her hard work and perseverance in bringing home the only GingerFilm we have yet to see!
Well, hope all is well with everyone out there, and hope to be able to post more info, and ultimately a review or three from this monumental screening of HCG when it takes place... so, if anyone out there DOES get to L.A. for it, PLEASE contact me, and I'll turn the G-ology mike over to ya for your thoughts!!!
That's it!!!

Yay great news!
ReplyDelete...that it is, G&F'96!!! Now we just have to hunt down those few 'early shorts' she did in '29, and the Ginger Film Collection will be TOTALLY accounted for... a pretty awesome thought, considering many classic actors/actresses have 'lost films'...

That would be cool. I've just seen office blues on you tube and I love it! So cute!
DeleteThere are loads of lost films. Some of the first ever colour films are lost. How sad. Those are really old though, some before 1920.
The TCM film festival looks fun. 5th Avenue Girl and Bachelor Mother too - wow. Gingerlicious festival :)
Of course, there's no way I'll be going - sigh! Oh well, there's plenty of Ginger films I can watch. Love the blog :)
Thanks for the kind words, F&F96!!! ...BTW, are you on FB? I should know, but I'm REAL bad at keeping up with folks between blogs and FB and e-mails and...well, you know what I'm saying... If you haven't 'found' the Gingerology community yet, just jump over to my page, VKMfan Huey...and also hook up with Ginger Peachy... she'll get ya to most all of the Gingery goodness over there!
