...first off, as the 'header' above indicates, we are all 'socked in' with snow here at Gingerology HQ... well, heck, the rest of the fam are actually at the kids' school for the night... it started snowing around 10 A.M., and the interstate system and most 'surface streets' are generally iced to the point of being impassable (well, for folk here in South Gingerville, anyway...) and their school is 'across town', and on a mountaintop, so... my wife beached the minivan and walked up to the school, where they are 'hunkered down' for tonight, and maybe even tomorrow night, as it's not getting above freezing tomorrow... oof. There's around 100 or so there, so, they are far from alone, which is good. There are folks stuck on the interstates even as I type, who have been there for at least 8 hours now... it's getting pretty scary... most folks have hopefully found a 'place of refuge' off of the road...lots of churches and other places are opening up for the night to take in folks... it's just been a VERY bad deal, which the local weather folks missed...hey, they're human... So, let's hope everyone is safe and warm and accounted for, everywhere this storm has hit.

On to lighter, yet VERY important mention: Hu bestows MONDO accolades to a fellow Gingerologist, Barbara Atkinson! She has equipped the Gingerology HQ with a LARGE collection of Ginger's radio broadcasts, which were badly needed...I only had one or two of these broadcasts, and really wanted to obtain more... I have yet to listen to one...was planning tonight, but...it's been a weird, long day, honestly, and I want to be in 'full consciousness mode' when I'm listening, to get the full Gingery effect... but I will MOST definitely be cranking these out soon, with gusto! So, thanks SOOOOO much, Lady B!!! I REALLY have my work cut out to reciprocate this gift!!!

And, HEY! It's Arianna's 18th Birthday!!! Well, it was yesterday... BUT, here's the awesome Ginger cake, which is a revered Gingerology tradition!
...and in case you've missed previous years, here ya go:
...pretty awesome!!! In case y'all didn't know, this last pic was Gingerology's original 'header pic'...thus one of my all time faves...her eyes here are truly mesmerizing... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AB!!!!

...well, not much else happening... I may get some stuff done tomorrow, but...we will see....hope all is well where y'all are... and KIG!!!

Icy roads always make things worse, glad your family is taking proper precaution by staying off the roads. I remember back in 1996 we had a white-out blizzard that struck in the afternoon and 300 kids and teachers were stranded overnight at the high school, people were stranded at the mall and spent the night, it was like that all over town. Crazy! Stay safe and warm!
ReplyDelete...the fam arrived home today about 4 in the afternoon... One thing about here is...the weather changes pretty rapidly... we are up to 42 or so tomorrow - hopefully finishing off any leftover ice and snow, and by the weekend it's up to the mid-60s... but yes, they were REALLY ready to get home... the weather folks kinda missed it, but...it's hard to predict when and where the cold fronts will combine with the gulf air... Alabama seems to get the 'worst case' of this, primarily regarding tornadoes...
DeleteThanks, Betsy! Hope you and yours are well!!!
KIG!
