...well, it's the Fourth Birthday of this thang we call Gingerology!!! And with that, I would like to TRULY thank each and every one of y'all who have followed this blog for the past Olympiad...
As many of y'all know, the pic above was the original G-ology header
pic... it is still one of my all time faves, as it is just so clear and intense...her eyes are incredible here... of course, the current pic
is awesome as well, and was 'colorized' by a Gingerologist of the past,
Maria, who did killer work (also see the header to the Roberta blog for Maria's handiwork...).
In the past four years, we've seen Ginger as TCM's Star of the Month, The Gingertennial, and the associated GingerCentury exhibit at Boston University, which was truly a mesmerizing exhibit to experience - hope y'all got to see it, or hopefully it will 're-occur'...actually, not sure if it has been discontinued or not... most likely it has, tho...
...and of course the sojourn by Hu and the crew to Independence, Missouri for Ginger's 100th on 7/16/11...100 years at 100 West Moore Street, at 100 degrees Fahrenheit! I'm not all that into numerology, other than from an engineering standpoint, but...all that 'coincidence' was pretty cool... AND, I got to meet Kat and Baby! Below is a un-retouched pic of Hu on the porch...pretty surreal for me standing right there... Kat is tucked behind the post there, along with the homeowner (Mrs. Huey was in the mini-van with Bam-Bam taking pics...) ...anyway, a neat little house, and the owner was really cool about us G-ologists descending upon it.
...and there's been some interesting and downright funny moments, like when I walked into the French Quarter police headquarters in New Orleans and explained how I was looking for a copy of Ginger's first marriage license, and the fellow behind the counter said, "Is that when she married Freddie?" I really wanted to laugh, but tried to set him straight about it... and then wondered how many other folks out there believe Ginger and Fred were married in real life...
...and of course the 'epic' discussions regarding the 'minutia' of Ginger, such as her favorite ice cream flavor, which has been a mystery until VERY recently... from a VERY reliable source, it was...vanilla! ...well, maybe with some chocolate syrup here and there...
...and then there's the GingerFilm reviews, which have hopefully been informative as well as entertaining to y'all...it's kinda neat to 'review' some of those 'alternate storylines' - now referred to as 'The Huey Treatment'...and I'm like, "where did this stuff COME from?"
The addition of Facebook to the Gingerology mix has really 'augmented' G-ology's profile, and it has been awesome to meet new folks who are interested in Ginger Rogers!
As to the future...there's still a HEAP of GingerFilm reviews to plow through, and at the rate I'm plodding along, they'll be finished up in...well, who knows when... but there are plenty of other 'topics' I am needing to post, and maybe sometime this summer I can get around to cranking a few of them out (actually, I need a scanner, y'all...Dell printers do not play well with HP computers...).
Until then, here's to many more Gingery Years!!!
KIG, y'all!!! - and thanks again for your support!!!
VERY Sincerely,
Hu

Never forget how grateful we all are for your site! It is the touchstone of all things Rogers...
ReplyDeleteBTW, the other day I had some 'Rouge River Blue'; Blue cheese from a dairy (Gingers?) in Oregon...
Thanks, Ron! And thanks for YOUR contributions over time, as this IS a 'community' site for Ginger fans, after all... and all info and data is of GREAT interest to the Gingerology community!
Delete...hmmm...you may well have had cheese from the 4R... I'm not sure if they still call it that, but they SHOULD, of course... but, some goof threw a lot of money at the Craterian Theater there in Medford, and they replaced Ginger's name with his... ooof, don;t get me started, right?
Glad to hear things are somewhat better, Ron...hang in there, and keep on thinking great thoughts! And of course, as always...
KIG!

I wanted to stop by and say Happy Birthday to Gingerology!!! It's incredible how much has changed since it first started back in 2009. I remember at first then it was just a simple blog, and now it has so much. I forget how I stumbled upon Gingerology. I think it was through a google search, but I can't remember what I was searching for. And I'm glad I did find it. Also your blog inspired me to create Ginger's Corner that same year. And through the times, Gingerologists have come and gone. Like Maria for instance, she was awesome, and so were the others.
ReplyDeleteMoments like these I'm glad to say that I'm a Gingerologist!!! :D
KIG!
Thanks for the kind words, GF!
DeleteIt's been SO great to get to know you and SCD over time, and it's been great to be able to share Gingery goodness back and forth! I am honestly VERY proud of you and your amazing talent for drawing...keep with it, and you will have a great future!!!
And you are right, this site HAS changed a good bit from the early days... but it's great to know the The Corner was inspired by G-ology, so that ALONE makes G-ology satisfying to me... I kinda like to think some of those 'first generation' G-ologists drop by every once in awhile...hope so. My initial 'quest' was to hook up with as many GingerFilms as possible, and it was amazing that ALL (except one, of course) were available... so that got me hooked, because, if anything, I am BIG on collecting stuff...
Well, enjoy the rest of the summer, Arianna, and of course, KIG!!! Thanks agin for your great support over the years!!! :-)

And it's been great to know you too!
DeleteThank you so much about my artwork. I try, even though it may not be the best. I hope to one day, make my videogames with my characters and series.
Gingerology did definitely help. When I found it, you only had like 1 or 2 posts. But I would check it like everyday lol :P. Then I wanted to make my own blog. I would find Ginger pics, but I didn't know how I would share them. Then I got the idea to make Ginger's Corner. And it's all thanks to you!
Yeah I wonder if they do ever stop by. It would be great to hear from them.
I will enjoy the rest of summer! Got till August 26th. Until then-I do not want to think of school.
KIG!!! :)
Huey - Congratulation on all your accomplishments and "expendings" over the last four years! I wish you as many more successful ones to come! Thank you for all your efforts! It's always a joy sharing with you and reading about all the Gingery things you find along the way!
ReplyDeletePeachy
Ouh... almost forgot - KiG of course!
Thanks SO much, GP! And thanks for all the contributions you have made to Gingerology over time! It's awesome to have a 'closely knit network' of folks who share the same goal, to promote Ginger to the masses!
DeleteKIG, Peachy!!!

Oh... and I'm still surprised that Miss Rogers favorite ice cream flavor is Vanilla! It totally would have been my last guess! For some reason, I was expecting a more colorful flavor. But somehow vanilla does suits her!
ReplyDeleteKiG
...yeah, I had her tagged as a strawberry type... but vanilla works for me as well! :-) and, thanks for the 'info source' there! ;-)
DeleteKIG, GP!!!

I was happy to find out that Ginger's favorite ice cream flavor was vanilla as it is just one more connection with me. Your blogs are very entertaining. You should be a writer. I was able to go back East last July and was able to see Ginger's exhibit at BU. It was the highlight of my trip. I was able to attend a couple of Red Sox games, which they won, and visit the Kennedy Library. KIG
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words, GRF!!! I am very glad you and other folks enjoy my 'dissertations' on all things Ginger! It's fun to do...I need to get caught up with a few more posts here...TopHat is next on the review list...
DeleteGlad ya got to go to the GingerCentury exhibit...it was pretty surreal to be amongst all of that incredible Gingerbilia and artifacts! Also glad you got ot see the Bosox play... I was wanting to get into Fenway for a tour, but Springsteen was setting up for a concert, of all days... but I DID see the BoSox play Baltimore at Camden Yards...pretty fun game - the O's won... I really like them both. I didn't get to do much else in Boston...we were there basically two days, but really one 'full day'... we drove, so, lots of time was spent for that.
and it's nice to know Ginger's ice cream flavor... in general, anyway! Vanilla's cool, but... just seemed like she would have been more of a strawberry fan... anyway, hope we can get more great info and entertaining topics out here...and thanks again for your support!!!
KIG, GRF!!! er, forgive me for not knowing for sure, but is this Vivian? I'm pretty bad with names, and even worse with 'multiple names' :-P
