...just noticed that Kristen over at journeysinclassicfilm has a contest going on regarding Leading Ladies...a lot like the Monty and The Monkey tournament, but...it is down to he 'Final Four' in this one...and yep, our girl is there! SO, hit the link above and check the 'black box' voting survey to the right of the page... Ginger is currently tied with Stanwyck, so... VOTE!!!! Ginger is the representative for the 1940s, so... one of my fave pics of VKM from that decade, gleaned from Tom, Dick and Harry...
...It's been a somewhat hectic last couple of weeks, although no MAJOR events have occurred... other than everyone in my family has been sick at one point or another...getting close to having everyone well, so great news there!
I am kicking around a few things for posting in the next few days...in addition to finishing up the 'Roberta alternate plot' post... I think I'm putting too much pressure on it, but it is pretty interesting...nothing way off base, but hopefully entertaining... it will be done...soon...yupyupyup...
Hope all is well for everyone...I need to get back into 'BIG TIMING' it, post-wise, so... stay tuned...
KIG, y'all!

Actually Ginger was the representative for the 30s, it was Barbara Stanwyck that was the 40s. But either way we still want Ginger to win! I just checked right now for the first time today, and Ginger is winning in the lead! Although it seems a big jump from yesterday, I just hope it's the fans from us advertising it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
...oof...well, no matter, actually they both can represent either decade pretty dang well... but nice to see Ginger got a nice 'bump' after we linked it...more proof that there's a pretty fair 'base' of Gingerologists out there...enough to make a difference in most polls... KIG!!!

well, dang it...the poll is shut down... 'suspected tampering'...by gum, I guess I'm just going to have to do a 'head count' somehow to see how may folks are out there voting!!! Can we help it if we all vote tenaciously for our girl???
ReplyDeleteAw...
DeleteWell we probably did get a lot of people cause you announced it, and I announced it on my blog and Ginger's Corner twitter and facebook page.
KIG too!
So Ginger is now plagued by her popularity? And is Gingerology to be suspected of cheating because it is followed loyally? It just doesn't seem fair. Well, we all know who is the greatest actress of them all even if the polls get closed down.
ReplyDeleteKIG!
...the poll is back on... Kristen (see below) cranked it back up...I understand that it appears that the votes accumulate rather quickly for Ginger, and also why the poll would be closed in order to alleviate any tampering.
DeleteAnd, hopefully there's just a lot of Gingerologists out there voting... IF someone is 'stuffing the box', that's NOT cool... anything to tarnish Ginger is NOT ACCEPTABLE to me, and I feel that y'all feel the same way...
see Kristen's comment below...all is well.
KIG, everyone!!

Hey all, Kristen over at Journeys in Classic Film. I reopened the poll, and I'm going to see how far Ginger can get. I'm fine with an outpouring of real fans, as opposed to one hacker. If you can spread the word and mention who else is in the running, just in case people change their minds once they get there and hopefully that might balance things out. Thanks everyone for stopping by!
ReplyDelete...thanks for the update, Kristen! Gingerologists, as aforementioned, are a pretty loyal bunch, and will vote 'en mass' for our girl! As I mentioned back on Monte's Tourney last year, G-ology gets about 150-200 'hits' a day...so, if even HALF of those folks vote, there's around 100 votes right there! Now, it's also safe to say most folks nowadays can cast at least 2-3 votes each, with 'home computer', 'work computer', and 'smartphone'... so ya gotta factor in that as well.
DeleteBut all that to say thanks for opening the voting back up...hopefully fans of those other great ladies (I am a pretty big Barb fan, and also love Natalie Wood...Audrey is great, but just not as familiar with her stuff...) will show up and make it an interesting contest!
Glad to see ya here, and hope to hear more from you!
Keep It Gingery, Kristen!!!

Slightly (well completely) off topic here. If you haven't heard Ginger in "The Capture of Lizzie Stone" I found it on an Old Time Radio website. It is called an "Audition show", for what I don't know. I could only listen to it and not download it AND they threaten that they are going to a pay to play format on April 1st so if you haven't heard it, you might want to check it out soon.

I had to register and login to listen but they haven't sent a ton of spammy e-mails to my account so they might be okay. I liked the show. It was very cute and Gingery!
KIG!
Thanks for the info, 'e'! do you happen to have the "multi-CD set" of Ginger on Radio that is available thru eBay? Seems like SOMEONE (probably GF11) has it... I've wanted to pop on it for awhile, and still might...I think the dude just burns the CDs 'as ordered'...but it seems like the quality is pretty fair, for radio programs from the 40s... pretty awesome they recorded a lot of that, as it was all live back then...

I bought a CD from one of the OTR websites but A LOT of her shows are on archive.org. Unfortunately, they don't list by artist, only by show in OTR-land, I don't know why. You can find all the URL's that I've found under Radio Shows A-Z on my blog:

There are 39 shows listed there, so far, so that should keep you busy for awhile ;)
I know there is a version of "Vivacious Lady" with Ginger and Walter Pidgeon out there that is on a CD set but I've yet to get my hands on it. Gingerfan11 has a copy (hint, hint, hint!)
Enjoy St. Patrick's day and KIG!
Thanks for the links, 'e'!!! I need to grab those... I'd love to have them on a CD I can pop into the car and listen to on the way to work!
Delete...yeah, GF11 has stuff I've never heard of... she is quite the young OGRE... :-)
hope you have a great St.Paddy's as well! I love the occasion, but...since I don't imbibe, I'm just left with wearing green...hey, I could watch Kitty Foyle!
KIG!
