...so far...
"...well, WHAT?" you may ask... Well, how's about this...
The stage musical production of "Backwards and in High Heels", which chronicles Ginger's career, is currently playing well within driving distance of your humble author, in the small town of Crossville, Tennessee, which is about an hour or so north of Chattanooga, which is about 2 hours from the 'Ham.
Here's the info on it:
Backwards and in High Heels at CC Playhouse
In general, the reviews seem pretty good for it...of course, any
Gingerologist would probably pick it apart as to the 'creative license'
taken at times, which probably works well for the play, but would still
just be... an issue, right? Overall, tho, should be great fun for folks who study the beautiful science of Miss Ginger Rogers!
...now, as for the probability of Hu actually getting to see a performance of said show... well...this time of year is pretty hectic with kids...and my work is 'picking up' (which is ALWAYS a good thing), and it seems every weekend is booked for other things in the Huey household... which is fine, of course, but... I'm still wondering if there's an...angle, so to speak... to maybe get to a performance of this thing before it ends on November 2nd... stay tuned... if it doesn't happen, who knows...the 'company' may land somewhere even closer to my current coordinates...probably pretty unlikely, tho...
ANYWAY, if any of y'all are in this general area, and are interested, AND if ya get to check it out, please report back to us with a review of the show!
...in other Gingery news, the info for the Ginger 'filmblogs' is starting to fill in...all of the reviews up to now are now 'tabbed' on the respective filmblog, as well as ALL screenCAPS done to this point (Romance in Manhattan is the last one to date...)... so there's progress there...
...and, of course, 'Roberta' is next on the docket...haven't even STARTED it yet, unfortunately... but soon...soon...
Until that splindiferous day,
KIG!!!

As chief Gingerologist, the community would benefit from your review of the show. In fact, maybe you can go to the show as a journalist doing a review. If you go, there will be a review, so there is nothing but truth there. However it happens, I hope you get to see the show.
ReplyDelete...if I make it there, I will try to take a few notes, 'mental' or otherwise... but will hopefully just enjoy the show, and not get overly 'hung up' on any of the inaccuracies... it may happen as a 'solo day trip' on one of the next 3 (and LAST 3) Sunday afternoon showings... we'll see...
DeleteHahaha oh I know I've really wanted to see this! I haven't heard of any locations near here, you would think they would come to Houston or even Dallas..........
ReplyDeleteBut then maybe it's a good thing because as a gingerologist I would be very critical lol. But then I would try not to and just enjoy the show. ;)
...well, unless something really 'breaks' in my schedule the next few weeks, it will probably not happen...I honestly can't get anyone to go with me...I'm pretty much the 'solo G-ologist' at this point.... heck, I might just 'day trip' up there and back one Sunday - well, it will be most likely 10/28, if at all... it's at 1:30 central time, which would be perfect - about 4 hours drive between here and here... so, we'll see...
Deleteoh yeah, if I DO get to see it, I'll try to just 'enjoy' the show, and not dwell too much on any of the inaccuracies which are noted in the reviews I've read... sometimes a show 'meshes' better if you combine things or even 'create' info...that's understandable...
DeleteNo problem - glad you find the info useful, and welcome to Gingerology!

ReplyDeleteI have respect! Music handmade, they really sing, no double bottom.
And she looks a little Ginger-like on stage. ;)
...thanks for the link, CS! I really never thought to go grab a 'preview' from YouTube... Overall, looks pretty neat... again, not sure how 'accurate' and/or 'chronologically correct' it is, but...it would be cool just to go see it... maybe it will happen for me in the next few weeks...
ReplyDeleteWell, hope all is well with YOU, CS!!! Great to hear from you...I've been missing all your comments over here on G-ology - please DON'T be a stranger!!!
KIG!

Well, time is extremely rare. I don't even do much on my blog. Last film I saw was Shall We Dance and I liked it a lot. But that must have been at least a month ago. It's mostly politics that keeps me away from other things -- I'm pretty much on blogs of famous political radio hosts. ;)
Delete...well, hope everything works out for you in that 'arena'...honestly, I'm just not that political... unless Ginger is involved in a poll or something... I may try to do some post regarding Ginger and politics...of course, as you are aware, she was a staunch Republican, so... again, might just leave it at that.
DeleteGuess the important thing is to vote for who YOU feel is best for the country's stability...and that is, to me, a personal issue... and I respect anyone's opinion on the issue - there's good and bad with each side, and the net result is usually a 'mix' of philosophies...you know the old 'checks and balances' thing, for better or worse...
It's funny, my wife's friend just married a guy who actually tried to run for president this time...of course didn't get far, but... had some videos and stuff... again, might not agree on all of his views, but, gotta give him credit for making the effort, I reckon...
OK - enough with that...
MAKE SOME MORE MUSIC VIDS, CS!!1 :-)
AND....of course...
KIG!!!

This morning I was so deeply touched, I started to cry. Christie praises the president, both men really do their work together and I believe either of them really cares for common people. Who cares for division in this country? I am yearning for peace -- but not with a guy like Paul Ryan. You cannot believe in atheistic/libertarian Ayn Rand AND Jesus at one time, as Ryan does! I cannot believe this guy is part of my Catholic church.
DeleteGinger Rogers' GOP was not occupied by teaparty crazies. I always adored FDR, but what I learned about president Eisenhower, actually came from liberal radio shows during the last months. Liberal radio hosts praise Eisenhower as a progressive Republican, who even was very union-friendly. Teddy Roosevelt had been another pretty progressive Republican president, who didn't dance around the golden calf either. I met a lot of moderate Republicans and must say, I LOVE them. And guess what those good old Eisenhower-Republicans told me, who they're gonna vote for.....
Herbert Hoover was not a great Republican, but I can't blame Ginger for not having seen that, because she obviously had no time to ponder politics. Ginger wasn't dumb, just a little gullible. Though I can't imagine she could stand the attitude of today's teapartiers....
Referring to the Democratic Party I also have to be honest: This party was terribly racist in the past. Today's Democrats are very different from those of Ginger's days.
Referring to FDR I am sitting on the fence. Left-wing liberals are trying to convince me, he was a disguised Republican -- right-wing Republicans tell me he was a Marxist. I have exactly the same discussions on president Obama. And those extreme ideas about FDR and Obama show I very-very likely am not wrong : they're both centrists, PERIOD.
By the way, right now my argumentation as commentator is fairly Christian:

Music.... I just attended a jam session. They had no clarinet that evening. Bonny, my new clarinet, really amazed. Musicians and audience were astonished, this little thing could impersonate such powerful jazz clarinet. I also hadn't been sure she would make that live 'baptism of fire', but now I can fully trust her.
Yes, I still owe to Bonny her premiere on sweet&hot. She sounds more beautiful every day.......
