...Just to let ya know, we are back from vacation...overall, it was nice, but...a bit of sickness reared its ugly head, and a bit of rain made for an abbreviated agenda...but the youngsters got in a good bit of swimming, so turned out OK, and everyone is pretty well as we speak.
-----
...On to the review for 'The Gay Divorcee'...I'm getting a bit psyched for this review, since there's a LOT of ground to cover...of course, screen caps will be somewhat 'abbreviated', especially the dance routines...well, in the review itself...for 'extended coverage', you'll have to sashay (not unlike Miss Rogers is doing above...I think if you looked up 'sashay' in Webster's, this pic would fit perfectly...) over to the GINGEROLOGY film blog for 'TheGayDivorcee'...
-----
...speaking of which, I hope y'all have checked out the YoungManOfManhattan blog, which is the 'rough draft' of how ALL the film blogs will eventually be set up... again, if you have ANY suggestions for setup, please reply...most likely to this post...I'm going to try to keep up with any comments in the film blogs, but I may just set up a 'general comment' section at the top of each blog... and, as for G-ology, comments are 'pending approval', which is unfortunately a product of our times... oh well.

Glad to be back... I have a test on Saturday Morning, but should be back at it after that...so, until then...
Keep It Gingery!!!

YMOM blog looks great! I like the tabs that send you right to pics or clips or what ever anyone might want to see. Is there going to be a way to hop from one movie to another or will visitors go from Gingerology to movie page to Gingerology to movie page? This is quite a project. More power to you! KIG
ReplyDelete...thanks for the kind words, 'e'! Well, I might put a 'next film' link on all of them, but it might just be too tough to 'replicate' 74 links on all 75 pages... so that's where the 'Gingerology' link comes into play...plus, I'd like to get folks back to 'the main site' in case they are unaware of it... maybe I'll think of something, tho...
ReplyDeleteI've updated the 'publicity stills' section of YMOM - there were a few that were not actually from the film, and I've added a few. Hopefully I can think of all the 'pertinent info / links' and add before jumping into the other ones...
KIG!

I hadn't thought about there having to be so many links. Maybe just one that leads to the next movie chronologically and one that goes back? I'm sure you'll think of something. Just checked out YMOM again and it looks even better! I love the pics. Cigarette me big boy :)
DeleteKIG!
...I'll probably do a link to the next one...like, 'click here for Ginger's next movie blog...'
DeleteI am 'fine tuning' YMOM, and hopefully will get it all 'done', as it will be the 'template' for the ones to follow...
thanks agin for the kind words, 'e'!
Thumbs up for the Young Man of Manhattan blog. It looks good. I, too, like the tabs at the top. The only thing I might suggest would be to change color and make the font bigger on the text for linking to Gingerology, i.e...
ReplyDelete"Check out the GINGEROLOGY home page by clicking on Miss Rogers!!!"
I suggest it so that anyone arriving via a search will be sure to notice it.
Lady F has spoken...so let it be written...so let it be done...
Delete...yep, the 'text size' (and color) is always a MAJOR issue with me...ya know, being an old geezer and all, I tend to want the largest text possible...although I know lots of y'all use smartphones, so text size is at a premium...that's why it takes so long for me to DO these thangs, y'all!
AND, thanks for the VERY kind words, LF! :-)

That's what I had in mind! Now if they don't click on Ginger it isn't because they missed the link! BTW, Huey, excellent "powder puff" caps. :)
ReplyDelete...thanks...once I get the 'template' for the film blogs finalized (I think it's dangerously close), I'll go set up all the others...shouldn't be too bad... but they'll be a HEAP of screen caps in some of these...
DeleteAs for 'Gay Divorcee', really haven't started the review 'proper' yet - I've just set up the 'template' (there's that word again...) so far - and one thing I realize is that RKO threw everyone on the lot into it...GOBS of folks involved in making that film... but hopefully I'll make some hay on it this weekend.
Yeah, I like the text on the 'link' better now, too... there's nothing worse than small text! :-]

Checked the Young Man of Manhattan blog and it looks AWESOME! Can't wait to see the rest of the films. :)
ReplyDeleteAlso really can't wait for the Gay Divorcee film review. It's one of my favorite Ginger and Fred musicals(along with Top Hat and Swing Time...wait, never mind, I like all of them!!!).
thanks, GF! I think I'm about ready to 'set up' all the rest of them, but I'll probably do the 'divorcee' review first...
DeleteIt's really gonna be tough to keep 'divorcee' outta first place, cause if anything, I remember Miss Glossop is QUITE sassy... but we'll see... heck, it's hard enough to pick out the top GandF films, but throw in ones like Kitty, Roxie, vivacious Lady and Bachelor Ma, might as well toss a coin!
KIG, Arianna!

They say make hay while the sun shines so
ReplyDeleteLet's, oh let's, make hay while the moon shines
Well, in this case, it will DEFINITELY be 'hay by the moon', as it looks like a fair weekend...we already have a few 'events' set up this weekend (birthday party, Father's Day, and Church), so that pretty much leaves...night.
Deletehopefully things will get rolling...I've just about set up the 'basics'...just need to do screen caps and the review itself...onward and upward, right?
KIG, Kat!

A bit of a challenge for you, albeit a very friendly one:
ReplyDeleteTwo classic Hollywood blogs, "In The Mood" and "Frankly, My Dear," are staging a blogathon in late July called "The Great Recasting," the premise of which is to take a post-1965 film and recast it with pre-1965 stars, director and a particular year for it to take place. I've already signed up to do "Housesitter" (1992), with Lombard in the Goldie Hawn role (as for the rest, you'll have to find out), and I'm having our readers choose one of their own for Carole. I'm sure there is at least one movie of recent age that you watched and thought to yourself, "Now this would have been a good vehicle for Ginger back in the day." (OK, I don't know whether the term "back in the day" is part of your regular vocabulary.) Anyway, I'd love to see you take part in this; you can learn the particulars at http://theswingmood.blogspot.com/2012/06/great-recasting-or-guys-im-co-hosting.html, and my entry on the topic is at http://carole-and-co.livejournal.com/520083.html
hmmm. I might just jump on that...if I can find a 'recent'(i.e., post 1950) movie that I am pretty familiar with... I guess there's a few... thanks for the info! I'll get over there soon...this weekend is totally dedicated to 'divorcee'...will most likely be later in the week before the review comes out, but I'm fixing to post here in a sec...
DeleteThanks, VP! KIG - and Caroley, of course! :-]
