...Maria Strikes Again...

Great work!!! Maria, who was the magnificent talent behind the 'colorization' of the current (and most likely forevermore) 'header pic' for Gingerology, recently 'colorized' an already awesome postcard pic of Ginger I had - in case you didn't see it, here ya go:

Everything is perfect on this pic...her eyes are perfect! Killer hair color also... her hair was basically a 'strawberry blonde', which shows up in this pic quite well! GREAT thanks to Maria again, for such an incredible rendition of this photo!

I am just wondering which movie this set of poses is from... it is definitely from the late 30's... maybe in the 'Having Wonderful Time' range? Any info on this one is appreciated... the postcard I had did not indicate a specific movie... heck, it COULD just be a 'publicity shot'... here are a few other poses (in B/W) from that 'series' of shots:

Very beautiful, indeed... and while she was obviously a 'clothes hound', these pics prove that she is still AWESOME, regardless of the garb...not that there's anything WRONG with her clothing here, but let's face it, it's just not your 'typical' Ginger ensemble...

OK - back to the relentless task of hunting down lost Gingerbilia... hey - I DID 'win' the sheet music to 'You'll Be Reminded of Me' a few days back... I am going to try to add some of that stuff on the 'pages' section soon... stay tuned...

...get ready for GingerFall, y'all...

  1. The colorization is perfect!
I thought until know your header pic was a professional colorization

  2. You can't overestimate this colorization. I even feel the postcard texture makes it more beautiful. See Maria, it gives the whole thing a touch of painting. And if it's a bit blurry ... well, women are often photographed that way, to have the face look somewhat softer.

And Huey, if you decided to use this for the header, I'm just enthusiastic, because the expression is simply super! - Ginger looks friendly but self-confident. She seems to say:

"Hey big boy, I want you! You're a Gingerologist from now on."

Who can resist her, if Ginger looks that way? - Although this is not a 30s pic, I feel it's the most beautiful Ginger photo I ever saw.

  3. Wow, that is a great colorization! Simply fantastic!

Good idea about collecting memorabilia. I need to get on that haha. After the movies, maybe.

  4. CLARISSA SMITH: I know that with this texture and the blur you get a more 'artist' colorizarion. I was commenting on photo quality because I wanted to colorize a Ginger's pic that would look like a real actual pic.

I'm very glad you all liked it, really ^^

  6. Sorry, actually I should say : if it's from the late 30s, it doesn't belong to my favored time (1933-1937).

But it's my favored Ginger photo though now.

  7. Camille: Maria is awesome at this! Yep, she did the 'header' pic... which will probably be 'permanent'...it's just too perfect! But the 'new' pic is amazing, also!!!

CS: This was a postcard that Lauren had for sale - I bought 3 of them, and this one was really my fave pose... her smile and bright eyes are just incredible...you can't 'fake' that 'aura'... it is GREAT! And she doesn't have to say a word to me (although I obviously like your interpretation of her thoughts! :-] ) ...my mind reels with all the things she is conveying in that pic!
But you know, there is SOMETHING about my current header pic (also done by Maria, of course) that is just PERFECT for the Gingerology blog header...so I will probably keep it 'as-is' for awhile, if not indefinitely...but I WILL try to get some new things going on the site soon...

JH: Hey... send Maria an Ida pic! She really enjoys doing these, and Ida would be a great 'subject' for one!! That goes for you too, CS - with Jean!

Maria: Thanks again! Yes, I think it really looks cool - it has almost a 'painted' feel to it, although very 'real' as well... COOL!

  8. Huey -- I hope you'll think long and hard before ever considering changing your header picture. This one is PERFECT. The pose itself is lovely. She looks beautiful, is dressed to the nines, and Maria did a FANTASTIC coloring job. There are many great pictures of Ginger, but this one is pure elegance. A keeper, I hope.

And I agree. Maria did a great job on this latest venture. I'm really impressed with your work, Maria.

  10. I said it before, I'm not going to sway anybody, although I like the new photo much better. But my taste is anyway different from the majority, so maybe that golden gown beneath holding the ducky little handies ... hm hm hm ... is the right one to present Ginger to them. In the other one she looks more naturally to me. But considering advertisings, I have to admit, people like it a bit affected indeed.

    Okay, okay, okay. :)

  11. Maria, would you be interested in colorizing this photo of Ida Lupino for me?

All the pictures I have from Jean are under 200 kb which I consider to small. But anyway, as Maria seems to raise people from death, so to say, it might be too much if I saw Jean that lively. I might drop dead on the spot.
