...that I FINALLY figured out how to put an 'mp3 player' on the blog! HONKIN' MONDO WICKEDAWESOME GNARLY thanks to SassyGinger (a.k.a. 'Ms. OGRE') for all the guidance and info regarding the setup of this feature!
As a result, I just loaded the entire audio files from 'Ginger: My Story', which is Ginger reading various excerpts from the book - it is pretty neat to listen to, even though Ginger sounds pretty old in it - heck, it was recorded in 1991! Specifically, July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th... just days away from her 80th birthday!!! So keep that in mind when you are listening...
Anyway, hope you enjoy those files - just click on any one to play - I (hopefully) have the 'autoplay' set to off - it seems to be set that way - cause nothing is more of a 'startle' than to click on a site and music or whatever starts blaring out at you.
Speaking of music, oh yes, there will be GingerTunes aplenty... I have to make some 'mp3' tracks from old LPs... hopefully 'adding' a second 'player' will not pose a problem...

...a 'two-part' poll...

OK - here's the question: If you were charged with 'introducing' someone to the films of Ginger Rogers, but could only use ONE movie, WHICH of her movies would you pick?
This of course will need to be a 'reply comment' type arrangement, with commentary as to why the movie you pick is the best 'intro to Ginger'...but I have placed a similar 'poll' question to the right... but more general - regarding the above question, would the movie be a Ginger and Fred (GandF) film...

Or, a 'Ginger only' movie? Not really a right or wrong answer, but just curious as to what y'all think is the best one to start a potential Gingerologist out with... as a footnote, MY first Ginger movie I remember seeing was 'Primrose Path', believe it or not... didn't really know much about Ginger at the time, except that I thought she was beautiful, and sassy to boot... so as another 'side topic', note the first Ginger movie YOU remember watching...
And now for something completely different (well, as usual, it IS about Ginger!)... You have probably noticed there are new 'tabs' at the top right of the blog - these will be the new locations for general info, such as the movie list, the TCM schedule, General info, etc... as a result, a lot of space will be cleared out for other endeavours on the 'right margin'... which leads me into the fact that, thanks in GREAT part to Ms. OGRE, it appears that G-ology may have MP3's of Ginger in various formats, mainly tunes, but also the long-awaited "My Story" narration... I will do my best to get it cranked up this weekend... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The Summer of Ginger...

...is officially here! WOO-HOO! Ginger was quite the one for recreational activities, as these pics indicate... thanks to all the folks who have 'offered' these pics in past posts... sure you all have seen them before, but still cool to have them in one spot...

As for the 'State of Gingerology', I am hopefully going to get some more features, info, pics, etc... also wanting to add the 'mp3' feature, IF I can figure out how to do it... ANY advice would be deeply appreciated... I have accumulated quite a few GingerTunes over the past year, as well as her biography on audio...REALLY want to make all of that accessible to my fellow Gingerologists.

The Cabana boy is limbering up as we speak, y'all...

The Tenderfoot (1932)...

...has been released by Warner Archives. It stars Joe E. Brown as Calvin Jones, a bumbling Texas cattle rancher who journeys into New York City looking to get into show business (his lifelong dream). He gets hooked up with a touring company that is floundering, whose owners woo Calvin and his life savings he has brought with him. Ginger plays Ruth, who starts out as the company's secretary, but of course ends up with a much larger role.

It's a pretty cute movie - of the two films Ginger did with Joe E. Brown (the other being "You Said a Mouthful), this one is quite better, as Brown's role is a bit more 'laid back' than in 'Mouthful', which has him as the more bumbling doofus type... well, he is somewhat of a bumbling doofus in Tenderfoot, to be sure, but in a more 'interesting' way. As for Ginger, she is the sweet female lead with some 'sassiness', but is VERY cute and fresh-faced in this one at the ripe old age of twenty...

This one does show up on TCM every now and then, but just passing along the info... again, the WB Archive series DVDs have NO special features (unfortunately), but are typically pretty good visual quality (although not 'fully restored'... they are waiting for Maggie to do that!!!)

...my dad peacefully passed away today (6/1) at 12:45 pm CST.
