Keep Calm, Y'all...

...well, hopefully this isn't beating the proverbial 'dead horse', but... I went and did it...  WHAT, you may say? welp, lemme tell ya... right after an awesome GingerPic, to get things started...
OK... The 'Keep Calm and...' signs we have figured out how to make (once again, it's HERE ) 'inspired' me to create one of these for....EACH of Ginger's 70+ films... yup.

SO, of course I have 'installed' each sign on the appropriate GingerFilm blog, which you can check out from the 'link list' on the right-hand side of this blog (Gingerology)... the signs are at the bottom right corner of the 'home page' of the Gingerfilm blog you happen to be checking out.

Now, if that isn't confusing enough, here's an impromptu 'quiz' for y'all... I'm posting some of my fave signs below, and YOU figure out which film they are from... I'll place the answers in the comments to this post, so...figure them out BEFORE checking the comments!!!

...these will probably be pretty easy for most of y'all, but ya never know... AND, if y'all can come up with any, PLEASE submit, and I will gladly tack onto the correlating blogsite... ...actually, the one for Young Man Of Manhattan was created by our own Ginger Peachy... "Cigarette Me, Big Boy!"  ...Ginger Rogers said that, not Ginger Peachy...well, GP MAY have uttered that sometime in the past, although I honestly am not aware of her being a smoker... :-)

ANYWAY, I am now heading over to the Star Of Midnight 'Huey Treatment (remember that?) ... to work on it...stay tuned... until then, of course...

KIG!!!

Gingerology's Fourth on the Fifth!!!

...well, it's the Fourth Birthday of this thang we call Gingerology!!! And with that, I would like to TRULY thank each and every one of y'all who have followed this blog for the past Olympiad...

As many of y'all know, the pic above was the original G-ology header pic... it is still one of my all time faves, as it is just so clear and intense...her eyes are incredible here... of course, the current pic is awesome as well, and was 'colorized' by a Gingerologist of the past, Maria, who did killer work (also see the header to the Roberta blog for Maria's handiwork...).

In the past four years, we've seen Ginger as TCM's Star of the Month, The Gingertennial, and the associated GingerCentury exhibit at Boston University, which was truly a mesmerizing exhibit to experience - hope y'all got to see it, or hopefully it will 're-occur'...actually, not sure if it has been discontinued or not... most likely it has, tho...

...and of course the sojourn by Hu and the crew to Independence, Missouri for Ginger's 100th on 7/16/11...100 years at 100 West Moore Street, at 100 degrees Fahrenheit! I'm not all that into numerology, other than from an engineering standpoint, but...all that 'coincidence' was pretty cool... AND, I got to meet Kat and Baby! Below is a un-retouched pic of Hu on the porch...pretty surreal for me standing right there... Kat is tucked behind the post there, along with the homeowner (Mrs. Huey was in the mini-van with Bam-Bam taking pics...) ...anyway, a neat little house, and the owner was really cool about us G-ologists descending upon it.

...and there's been some interesting and downright funny moments, like when I walked into the French Quarter police headquarters in New Orleans and explained how I was looking for a copy of Ginger's first marriage license, and the fellow behind the counter said, "Is that when she married Freddie?" I really wanted to laugh, but tried to set him straight about it... and then wondered how many other folks out there believe Ginger and Fred were married in real life...

...and of course the 'epic' discussions regarding the 'minutia' of Ginger, such as her favorite ice cream flavor, which has been a mystery until VERY recently... from a VERY reliable source, it was...vanilla! ...well, maybe with some chocolate syrup here and there...

...and then there's the GingerFilm reviews, which have hopefully been informative as well as entertaining to y'all...it's kinda neat to 'review' some of those 'alternate storylines' - now referred to as 'The Huey Treatment'...and I'm like, "where did this stuff COME from?"

The addition of Facebook to the Gingerology mix has really 'augmented' G-ology's profile, and it has been awesome to meet new folks who are interested in Ginger Rogers!

As to the future...there's still a HEAP of GingerFilm reviews to plow through, and at the rate I'm plodding along, they'll be finished up in...well, who knows when... but there are plenty of other 'topics' I am needing to post, and maybe sometime this summer I can get around to cranking a few of them out (actually, I need a scanner, y'all...Dell printers do not play well with HP computers...).

Until then, here's to many more Gingery Years!!!

KIG, y'all!!! - and thanks again for your support!!!

VERY Sincerely,
Hu

Hey y'all...

...it's dang near the fourth of July!!! Let's check in on Ginger and her plans for the celebration of our nation's 237th Birthday...
...as you can see, Ginger has a LOT on the agenda, as usual... Huey, on the other hand, is taking a less intense approach to the weekend... eating ribs and long naps... well, I actually might clean out the garage, so...there's SOMEthing, right? Pretty much raining here ALL weekend, so... blah.

Anyway, hope y'all have a VERY Gingery Independence Day / Weekend!

KIG!

...seems like these are everywhere, so here's one Gingerologists should employ...

...interesting how easy this was to crank out... there's a website called Keep Calm And Make A Poster website, where you can make a 'custom' sign of the now rather ubiquitous slogan of "Keep Calm and Carry On", which was developed, but not actually distributed, by the British during the early stages of WWII for morale purposes of the general public - details of the poster occur HERE.
...and of course, Ginger as Ms. Castle in uniform is a pretty bodacious morale booster in any arena! So, with that, hope y'all are having a great weekend, and gearing up for the Independence Day festivities in a few weeks...

UPDATE: Here's the alternate, which is of course in Ginger's favorite hue(y)? :
...I went back and forth on the color to use...ended up with 'Gingerology Green'...but why can't there be a 'Ginger Pink' as well? Thanks to Katie for speaking up about this... when the OGRE speaks, you tend to listen!
Keep It Gingery, y'all!!!

...odds and ends from NOLA...

...Well, Hu and the Crew are back from the Crescent City... had a great time, although it's pretty dang hot AND humid... 90 degrees down there is like around 100 most anywhere else. Good to be back in the 'routine', such as it is...

We ate at some great spots, although not as 'highbrow' overall as we have in the past... with Bam-Bam, it's not quite as easy...but he did great pretty much everywhere we went. We hit Acme Oyster House (if ya dig oysters, it's the place to go - I'm not into 'raw' ones, but they do 'chargrilled' ones which are awesome!), Court of Two Sisters (older buffet style...great 'cross-section' of New Orleans culinary styles), and Deanie's Seafood, also a great place.

There were a few Gingery moments during the trip... first off, I spotted an old sign on the side of a building which read:
...just outside the fire station on Decatur Street... pretty neat, even though Ginger never partook in one of these, most likely... as you can see, it was garbage pickup day in the Quarter...

Another neat moment was as we were just about to leave out - we made our last 'run through', picking up a few last 'souvenirs' for folks back home, a dude was playing guitar out by Cafe Du Monde (the beignet (doughnut) place), and I was waiting outside a store a bit down the way, but well within earshot... and what song does he start to strum, but 'Night and Day'... so as we walked by, I dropped a buck in his pot and thanked him for playing it, cause it reminded me of Ginger Rogers... that probably didn't mean as much to him as the $$$, but... still a neat deal.

...and speaking of 'you-know-who' (who ELSE?), I am wanting to get a few 'general' posts cooking soon...of course the 'SOM' HueyTreatment' is underway, and will hopefully be out this weekend, but...there's been some other 'general topics' I've been wanting to crank out on posts as well... so stay tuned.

Hope y'all's summer is going well!

Keep It Gingery!
