Well, hope everyone out there had a VERY Gingery Christmas! We here at Gingerology are working on a few things here and there... first off, the Busby Berkeley Blogathon review for Gold Diggers of 1933 is under construction, and will appear in late January... it's cool to be part of that!
ouch... PAINFULLY beautiful, y'all...
...and other stuff? well, I'm thinking of 'expanding' the 'Day in Gingerology' feature to add pics... might be a cool addition to 'put a face to a name' when one is mentioned...
...the LIFE mag cover thang is still lying around (or HANGING around, on the wall, specifically), needing to be DONE... hopefully will be resumed... Mrs. Huey is getting tired of looking at empty 11x14 frames on the wall...
...and of course, just a 'upkeep' of All Things Ginger... I am trying to figure out how to implement a Facebook / Blog 'parallel universe'... only way I know is to actually start a Gingerology group on FB, which would be cool in and of itself, but... would step on the toes of the already wickedawesome FB groups for Ginger that exist... eh, I'll think about it... maybe just a 'Day in Gingerology' page on FB?
...another thing which may happen sooner rather than later is an 'inventory' of my Gingerbilia... there's a fair amount of stuff I have 'obtained' over the last few years, and need to document them here, as well as displaying them... stay tuned...
...wish I had this one... heck, maybe I DO... again, inventory is needed...
Speaking of Gingerbilia, did anyone get any cool stuff for Christmas? This question would probably fare better on FB, where folks can comment a LOT easier... sigh... some choices to make here regarding format and media avenues... anyway...
KIG, y'all, and have a VERY Gingery New Year!!!

...Miscellaneous Ginger Stuff...
...well, it's dang near December, which is always a good time to see what's up regarding Ginger (well, when is it NOT a good time to talk about Ginger?) ...and, being the Gingerologist that I am, I remember the year TCM played the majority of Ginger and Fred films on Thanksgiving... although we (hopefully) all have them, it's still cool to see them on 'national TV'.
Well, what's UP, y'all??? I am trying to get back into the 'swing' of things here in the blogosphere... with that, I have volunteered to do a 'guest post' for the WordPress blog Hometowns to Hollywood, as part of a Busby Berkeley Blogathon! My contribution will be Gold Diggers of 1933 (42nd Street was already taken) - but actually it will be pretty cool to review all of the BB stuff from this one, from my favorite opening 4 minutes of ANY film, "We're In The Money", to the epic finale of "My Forgotten Man" as delivered by Joan Blondell... and all the Busby-esque stuff in-between... BTW, if y'all have any insights for this post, PLEASE feel free to add it... just e-mail or message me... Here's the link to Annette's awesome site!: Hometowns To Hollywood Blog
...should be pretty cool!
...in another story... Have y'all checked out the 'official' Ginger Rogers website' as of late? I will say it is a lot cooler in it's 'navigation', but... at the end of the day, it's the same 'general info' it's always had... which is good, but... STILL think there should be a lot more 'current events', TV airings, etc. on the site. As a reminder, here's the 'old' look:
...and HERE'S the link to the 're-vamped' site... ...I will say that the new 'header pic' from 'Magnificent Doll' is VERY breathtaking... awesome colorization work! But I say we just get the 'owners' of this webpage to let Monica (along with the rest of we Gingerologists) run the website, and it will be WICKEDAWESOME!!!
...and, just as a 'Miscellaneous Gingery Moment'... here's a shirt I think all of us would dig to don for the season...
...probably need to figure out where this one comes from... ...a quick Goggle search showed quite a few with this 'theme', but this one really is the coolest, and of course did not show up on the search... oh, well, just know these are out there, and would be pretty cool...
As to other things - I am going to TRY to get going on a few 'tangible' GingerProjects in the next few weeks... I'm taking off the week between Christmas and New Years, hopefully time to revamp some stuff... need to do some work on the 'GingerFilm' sites, finish the LIFE cover framing project, and... sorting out all my current Gingerbilia, which I wish to display in my home office... I'll hopefully post some stuff on that later... ...until that righteous day,
...KIG, y'all!

...um... ...what month is this again?
...um... guess I've got some explaining to do, lest I incur the wrath of Miss Glory... well, it's really been pretty hectic the last few months, with the young 'uns in school, and thus a nightly regimen of homework and getting ready for bed... add to this the fact that my work is quite busy as well, and... seems like time is just flying away...
So, it's been kinda hard to find time to dedicate to Gingerology...
...um... yeah she's not buying that at all... ...a total, albeit not so systematic, dismantling of the Tower of Huey's Record Books... it's gonna take a LOT of work to get back in good graces... ...on a side note, I've never seen anyone look more beautiful whilst tossing tomes at twits...
So, with that, I'll keep ducking, and try to get back on track here, y'all... hope all is well with everyone out there - I think most of y'all are over on FaceBook, and the group over there (well, there's several GingerGroups, but one of the larger ones is 'It's a Ginger Thing), so we are in touch or whatever... but this blog needs to keep rolling, right?
...ah, better already... So, with that, everyone Keep It Gingery - and we'll get more Gingery Goodness on here soon!!!

Eclipse...
...Ginger and Freddie are ready... with quite stylish eclipse-ready eye-wear (yes, ISO Certified, per the rigorous test procedures of HTLI (Huey Testing Laboratories Internationale))... Hope y'all are ready as well, and hope those within the 'band' or whatever enjoy clear skies and SAFE viewing!!! I am quite a bit gun-shy about viewing directly, no matter the apparatus available, two eye surgeries later...so I'll just catch up on social media (...I DO hope SOMEBODY videos it. and then posts it... :-) ).
Miss Fortune is also going to check out the phenomenon... with the same Huey-approved specs, of course... it's another title for Huey - Miss Rogers' Protective Eye-wear Technician (PET)... um... yep, I am VERY happy being Miss Rogers' PET... ;-)
KIG, y'all!!!

The Day of Ginger on TCM is upon us!!!
...well, it's always an awesome thing for TCM to show ANY GingerFilm, but when she is one of the 'Summer of Stars' subjects, thus garnering an entire DAY of her films, it's really a cause for celebration!
...well, the 'list' is conveniently provided in the 'Ginger on Television' section above... hopefully some of y'all can 'obtain' some of those films you have yet to see... for some of us, we are just waiting for the airing of Hat Check Girl (It WILL happen one day, y'all...)... but in the meantime, it's fun to just sit back and watch all Ginger, all Day... only way it would be cooler is if were on a Saturday or Sunday... Friday isn't bad - you can always sneak out of work early, right?
...as for the lineup, it's really a pretty nice cross-section of her career... NO 42nd Street or Gold Diggers of 1933 here, which is actually apropos, as, although Ginger was awesome in both, let's face it, she was not the main character in either, and really didn't get much face time in either, especially '33'... additionally, only three Freddie films are included - Rio, Top Hat, and Follow the Fleet, which has Ginger's first solo dance number in the G&F series. Not really sure if Rio is the best pick here - yeah it was G&F's first go-round, and Honey Hale is Da BOMB, but... I would probably sub out with Carefree...
...yepyepyep...shure would...
And, as to the 'true solo' GingerFilms, all chosen are pretty awesome - well, a few get under my skin as to plot (Chance at Heaven does NOT make sense, y'all.. I would probably 'replace' it with In Person or Vivacious Lady) ...but it's cool that they are showing a few which are not in the regular 'GingerRotation' at TCM, like Twenty Million Sweethearts, Tight Spot, and Dreamboat...she really is so gorgeous in this one, and it's really kind of funny how they do the 'silent film' sequences...
SO...overall a pretty nice slate (no such thing as a BAD GingerFilm, right? ...well, at least the GINGER parts... ) so, just set the DVR / VCR / whatever you have, and hopefully capture the GingerFilms you need... I might just load up my DVR on the big screen downstairs... can't have too many back-ups, right?
Well, hope everyone is doing well out there... We have had a good bit going on here with sorting through all of my in-law's belongings - over 40 years in the same house tends to accumulate LOTS of stuff... been tough on Mrs. Huey having to let go of stuff... but it's almost complete, and with her brother moving in the house, it helps out a good bit as to the transition (it's next door to us).
So, keep us in thoughts and prayers a bit for some sense of closure, at least in the 'physical realm'...
And until later...
KIG!!!

...Happy 106th!!!
Well, it's hard to believe it's been six years since GingerTennial! But yet here we are... still hanging in for the most part, and still celebrating Our Girl's date of birth! Wish the GingerFest would have happened this year... hopefully Miss Missouri Marge will get things ready for a 2018 rollout!
For now, tho, celebrate by doing Gingery stuff... of course, ice cream... and if so inclined, playing tennis (you may want to reverse the order of those two, tho ;-) ) ...and try to work in a GingerFilm or two... honestly, y'all, it's been a few since I've watched one... I need to make up for lost time!
Thanks to all of y'all out there who follow Gingerology... I know it hasn't been too active lately, but hopefully that will change... but life is quite 'loaded' at times... STILL not an excuse for being tardy in all things Ginger...
KIG, y'all!

...still here...
...but been busy... and a lot of heavy things happening...
Most sadly is the passing of my mother-in-law just a little over a month after my Father-in-law passed away in early April. The only real way to describe it was 'broken heart syndrome'... they have been married over 53 years (and still counting in Heaven), and she just simply could not function without him... my wife Greta, who is a nurse, says this happens quite often when one of a married couple dies, the other one soon follows them. Bottom line, they are together again, which is the only way one can look at it.Thanks for all of y'all's prayers and thoughts during this time - obviously tough on Greta and my brother-in-law at this time, as well as for me and our kids...
Hopefully some Gingery programming will commence soon... I am pretty swamped with 'work-work', but gradually clearing out of it... I had a definite 'GingerMoment' today while talking to a random member (I field questions regarding building code compliance) - they noted they had an existing, historic building, built in 1911... which obviously caught my attention... but when told it was located in... Virginia, that was just a bit too coincidental... a gentle 'prod' by our girl to get me back on the GingerTrail, perhaps? eh, I like to think so... so with that, I'll try to get things cranking here again soon...
Until then...

...letting y'all know...
...that my father-in-law passed away last Saturday at the age of 74... from congestive heart failure.
Joe Reed was a very great man, who never met a stranger and would literally give you the shirt off of his back.
He was a 'handyman' who could plow through a total house painting / wallpapering project in the time it would take me to paint a closet... and pretty much do anything from unclogging a drain to cutting down a tree...to...well, you name it, if he couldn't fix it (which was a rare occurrence) he knew 2 or 3 other folks who could...
He took care and helped many older folks, primarily widow ladies... that's in the Bible, y'all... from mundane daily tasks to major issues, he was caretaker to many who had nobody else...
LOVED his grandkids... they called him 'Daddy-Daddy'... Rebekah came up with that one...
I am blessed and bettered by knowing him, as MANY are...
He will be greatly missed by ALL.

...BLAH...
...well, here's that month again... yeeg...
...phone-a-friend, y'all... while you still can...
Of course, it has been well documented that April is my LEAST favorite month... apologies to those who are fans of this month... I'm sure that PLENTY of good things have happened in Aprils past... but... lotsa BAD, too... of course, Ginger left this orb in April of 1995... which obviously makes it a somber month in the world of Gingerology... but... here's a few other things you may or may not know about April calamities:
...yeah, buddy... again, you could probably find lots of bad, lots of good at ANY point within the calendar... but doubt if there's a month WORSE than this one...
Here's hoping that this April will SOMEhow be...well, not so APRIL-like... I'm not too optimistic...
...neither is Ms. Fortune... ...just pray for May, y'all...
KIG - especially in this decidedly NON-Gingery month...

RobertaReminder!!!!
...This Monday, March 27... The final (third) hour of the Palm Springs Antiques Roadshow will air on PBS (check local listings), which HAS to have Roberta Olden on it, getting a chair from Ginger's Library appraised! Not one of the ones shown here, but one that is 'telescoping', converting from a chair into a stepladder for library use...
I noticed these shows are available for view on the Antiques Roadshow website, but only for a few weeks - then you have to be a 'premium' PBS member... take notes.
Also, TWO GingerFilms will be shown at the TCM Film Festival (April 6-9, 2017):
Lady in the Dark - ...The promo still on the link is in black and white... hmmmm....wonder if that will be how it is shown? I'm thinking not - hopefully will be a 'clean copy' of the color... I'm not up on all the film type details, but 'nitrite' is included, which I thought was a ticking time bomb... hopefully it is 'preserved'... one that would be awesome with a 'clean' DVD offering from Paramount, or whomever owns the rights to this one...
Rafter Romance - One of Dale Tremont's favorites, and mine as well... not sure if this one is any 'cleaner' copy than the TCM DVDs from a few years back, but... will be cool to see on the big screen...it's noted that film critic Leonard Maltin will be in attendance...
Hopefully some of y'all can make the festival... if so, reports will be nice - especially stuff regarding Maltin's comments at the RR screening... most likely will be over on FaceBook,, so y'all stay tuned over there...
Finally, just noting there's lots of things cooking here in South Gingerville, so.. hope to squeeze in a post every now and then... again, FaceBook will be visited as most of us now do... the 'comments' on here for posts are generally non-existent... oh well... it appears there are still quite a few folks checking the site out...it's all good!
Y'all have a VERY Gingery Weekend!!!

Robert Osborne - 1932 - 2017 ...Gingerology remembrance of TCM's Guru of Classics
...Sad news for ALL lovers of classic films, as TCM's classic film guru, Robert Osborne, has passed away.
Robert seemed to be a fan of ALL classic movies, actors, actresses, studios, and whatever else you can relate to the classic films. Here is TCM's website information:
TCM remembrance of Robert Osborne 1932 - 2017
There is no doubt that Mr. Osborne was a BIG Ginger fan... here's a 'liner note' he did for the Kitty Foyle radio show album from the 70s, which I originally transcribed for a post on the 70th anniversary of Kitty Foyle's release - here it is:
Ginger Rogers once told a reporter, “Kitty Foyle was my first picture. It was my mother who made all those pictures with Fred Astaire.” The lady was kidding, of course, but there is no denying that everything connected with the spectacular Rogers career dates B.K. (Before Kitty) and A.K. (After Kitty). The Foyle role fit her like a coat of enamel, won her an Academy Award and kept her from being known solely as part of something called Astairenrogers.
Kitty Foyle was made at RKO Radio Studios in Hollywood in 1940, long after blonde and bouncy Ginger had been established as Fred Astaire’s most popular on-screen partner. She’d also proven her solo box office worth in a few comedies of her own. Up to that point, however, she hadn’t been established as an actress (and no fault of her own, but critics and the public have always assumed performances in musicals and comedies require no acting prowess, only nervous feet). One day she’d had quite enough, put down her foot – one of the unnervous ones – and divorced Fred as a partner. “No more musicals!” she told her bosses. While they ran for the aspirin bottle, Ginger started looking for a juicy role.
Enter Kitty Foyle, the most popular literary heroine of the day – and the timing couldn’t have been better. Kitty was the creation of author Christopher Morley, a hard-working white collar girl who was fed up to her typewriter ribbons. “I read about the guts of the pioneer woman, and the woman of the dust bowl, and the gingham goddess of the covered wagon,” says Kitty. “What about the woman of the covered typewriter? What has she got when she leaves the office?” It wasn’t all work for Kitty – she also had to choose between a liaison with a rich, married socialite and a romance with an industrious young doctor. But the public loved her, and every actress in the movie world wanted to play her. RKO, meanwhile, bought the screen rights and Ginger snapped it up. She darkened her hair, replaced the usual maribo feathers with a working girl’s wardrobe and went to town on the part, turning in a performance that made one critic clap his hands in glee, writing “Ginger Rogers plays Kitty Foyle so well it’s hard to remember she ever danced her way to fame.” The flourishing, epic touch came when she won that hard-to-get Oscar over the likes of Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn, Martha Scott and Joan Fontaine. Goodbye, Fred!
In the years that followed, Ginger got to play everything from gum-chewing molls and ex-convicts to Dolly Madison and Dolly Levi, all thanks in great measure to that first encounter with Ms. Foyle. Her movie career has been long winded (36 active years, 73 major films), quite dazzling, an audience pleaser, always fun to watch. And despite the enduring fame of Astaire n’ Rogers, Rogers n’ Astaire, she is still best remembered as Kitty Foyle, the white collar girl. Their names remain synonymous. This is a permanent record of that collaboration – and proof the lady known as Ginger could do very well indeed without the hint of a Carioca, a Continental or a Castle Walk in reel three.
ROBERT OSBORNE, author of Academy Awards Illustrated and four other books on motion pictures. (circa 1975)
I feel sure that he would have wanted to attend the upcoming Ginger Festival...
HERE is the DVD intro to Ginger's Paramount classic, The Major and the Minor" (from the TCM website) which is also included on the Universal DVD.
The thing about Osborne was he could give his 60-second 'intro' to ANY given film to air on TCM, and make you want to check it out... ...the 'behind the making of the film' info he had was truly unparalleled - talk about someone who had forgotten more about movies than all of us collectively will EVER know!
Robert Osborne was a champion of the Golden Era which Ginger and SO many other incredible actors and actresses created, and his presence will be sorely missed on TCM, as well as in the classic film community.

GingerFilms in the Library of Congress...
...at the immaculate suggestion of Gingerologist Superior, Barbara Atkinson (OklahomaBarb, if I may be so bold), here's a post on GingerFilms which are currently on the National Film Register of the Library of Congress...
...SO, what IS the Library of Congress, you may ask? Good question... it's like... a large building in Washington D.C., the National Capital of the the United States of America. Within it, there are.... books....lots of books... I mean there's REALLY... ...a LOT of books... (I've been there, y'all, so... take it from me...) ...but there are also all other forms of 'media', including films, recordings, etc... its existence is for the preservation of anything which is of significance which has been produced in the U.S.A. since its inception... Now, MY copy of Queen High has this deal at the front of it:
...maybe this is a 'general entry', and not specifically for a film on the National Film Register...
Anyway, HERE is their general site... pretty cool stuff...
So far, here are the GingerFilms which are on the Library of Congress National Film Register:
Forty-Second Street (1933, Warner Brothers);
Gold Diggers of 1933 (1933, Warner Brothers / Vitaphone);
Top Hat (1935, RKO Radio); and
Swing Time (1936, RKO Radio).
...pretty dang awesome, but... ...here's where we come in... from the LofC website:
"The National Film Registry selects 25 films each year showcasing the range and diversity of American film heritage to increase awareness for its preservation. To be eligible for the Registry, a film must be at least 10 years old and be "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
...with that, HERE is the link to the nomination page for 2017... you can nominate up to fifty (50) (!) films per year for consideration by the National Film Preservation Board to be placed on the National Film Register (NFR)!
They do have a pretty extensive list of past nominations which did not make the cut for the NFR - that list is HERE - quite a few 'suggestions'... just perusing the 30s, I noticed that "In Person" was placed in the 1934 list as well as the 1935 one....hmmmm... could this be a SIGN for our nominations?
With that, here's THIS: Which GingerFilm (if only one can be picked), would YOU choose from the remaining list, and could make a decent argument as to it's 'significance'? Remember it has to be "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant"... well, heck, ALL GingerFilms are QUITE "aesthetically significant"... but, with that, here are MY five (yeah, I couldn't go with just one either) that best fit the criteria (I'm leaving out the balance of the G&F films, as it's pretty obvious ALL of those are candidates):
Young Man of Manhattan (1930 - Paramount)
This one has 'historical significance', as it has quite a bit of actual newsreel footage of various sporting events with the actual athletes, most famously a boxing match between Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney. Additionally, it does a fair job depicting the life of a news reporter back in the day, between Norman Foster and Claudette Colbert. But of course, the GingerAngle is that she creates the character of Puff Randolph to be a very convincing 'flapper chick' which the era is famous for... with a few cute tunes she performs as well. It's also Ginger's first role in a 'feature film', which is historical enough for me.
Stage Door (1937 - RKO Radio)
Pretty much an 'all-star' effort for RKO, with not only Ginger and Kate, but also Lucille Ball, Eve Arden, Gail Patrick, etc... and Adolphe Menjou thrown in as a potential sugar daddy. This film does depict life as a starving actress in the Depression Era, which is definitely of historical significance. Just the exchanges between Ginger and Kate are enough to fast-track its inclusion on the List...
Kitty Foyle (1940 - RKO Radio)
Ginger's Oscar-winning role is of course a fave of most all Gingerologists, primarily for the love story involved; but the film's 'general' tone deals with the emerging female workforce in 'modern-day' society... the fact that this phenomenon was documented in this film just before the U.S. involvement in World War II is timely, as females played a HUGE role in production of goods for the war effort.
I'll Be Seeing You (1944 - Selznick International)
On the other side of WWII, we have this underrated film which has Ginger meeting up with a veteran who has not shook the nightmares of the war experience from his mind... this is an early film which dealt with post-traumatic stress disorder (PSTD) in a somewhat 'unfiltered' manner... still somewhat tame compared to later films in the 60s, 70s, and beyond, it still has historic value as to how Hollywood was trying to present a tough subject in a impactful manner. Plus, Ginger is quite radiant in this one, and turns in an excellent dramatic performance alongside Joseph Cotten and a teenaged Shirley Temple... not to mention Spring Bynington, one of my faves...
Monkey Business (1952 - 20th Century-Fox)
Well, this one is just historically significant for the sake of film... Ginger is alongside Cary Grant and Marilyn Monroe, with that constant 'elder', Charles Coburn... I mean the cast is incredible! And to me, it's really a 'precursor' to all the goofy yet cool Disney 'live action' films of the 60s, like Flubber, That Darn Cat, Now You See Him-Now You Don't, Herbie, etc... which, I guess is of some cultural significance...
=====
...well, that's that. Of course, I think we could all figure out something about ANY of the GingerFilms which would qualify for its inclusion on the National Film Register... but I guess these kind of stuck out to me. For example, one could argue Suicide Fleet or Carnival Boat, due to historic footage of the late 20's Navy Fleet and early logging industry methods, respectively... The First Traveling Saleslady deals with the resistance Western ranchers had to barbed wire, which was most likely pretty accurate... and the list just goes on.
Well, with that, go over to the nomination site and DO so! I haven't YET, but plan to this weekend... vote early and often!!!
Until Later...

...GingerFisher in a landslide!
...not too surprising that the 'natural Ginger' LIFE cover won handily... it's the most 'candid' of the bunch, and shows Ginger doing stuff she truly loved to do...
...for years!
...WELL...
...now for something completely different... ...well, it's Gingery, of course (duh)...
...It has been brought to our attention here at G-ology that the IMDb Message Boards are to be completely removed from their site on February 20, 2017... here's the message from their board (hopefully no big deal to reproduce here, as its purpose for existing will cease in less than two weeks):

...WELL...
...now for something completely different... ...well, it's Gingery, of course (duh)...
...It has been brought to our attention here at G-ology that the IMDb Message Boards are to be completely removed from their site on February 20, 2017... here's the message from their board (hopefully no big deal to reproduce here, as its purpose for existing will cease in less than two weeks):
"IMDb is the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content.
As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on IMDb,
we have decided to disable IMDb's message boards on February 20, 2017. This includes the Private Message system.
After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb's message boards are no longer providing a positive,
useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide.
The decision to retire a long-standing feature was made only after careful consideration and was based on data and traffic.
Increasingly, IMDb customers have migrated to IMDb's social media accounts as the primary place they choose to post comments
and communicate with IMDb's editors and one another. IMDb's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/imdb) and official Twitter account (https://twitter.com/imdb)
have an audience of more than 10 million engaged fans. IMDb also maintains official accounts on Snapchat
(https://www.snapchat.com/add/imdblive), Pinterest
(https://www.pinterest.com/imdbofficial/), YouTube
(https://www.youtube.com/imdb), and Tumblr
(http://imdb.tumblr.com/).
Because IMDb's message boards continue to be
utilized by a small but passionate community of IMDb users,
we announced our decision to disable our message boards on February
3, 2017 but will leave them open for two additional
weeks so that users will have ample time to archive any message
board content they'd like to keep for personal use.
During this two-week transition period, which concludes on February
19, 2017, IMDb message board users can exchange contact
information with any other board users they would like to remain in
communication with (since once we shut down the IMDb message
boards, users will no longer be able to send personal messages to
one another).
We regret any disappointment or frustration IMDb message board
users may experience as a result of this decision.
IMDb is passionately committed to providing
innovative ways for our hundreds of millions of users to engage and
communicate
with one another. We will continue to enhance our current offerings
and launch new features in 2017 and beyond that will help
our customers communicate and express themselves in meaningful ways
while leveraging emerging technologies and opportunities."
...alas, all things must come to an end... dang it. Actually, the last few weeks, it seems like the only new posts were idiots trolling / flaming the board, trashing Ginger in no specific terms, which of course required swift and curt rebuttal by true Ginger fans... which was frustrating, as that isn't the purpose of the message board.
Now, the main reason I bring this up, other than for general info, is that, as most Gingerologists know, the Ginger Board on IMDb is a place where Roberta Olden sometimes stops by (I love the pic above, and hope that Ms. Olden doesn't mind it being posted...). Of course, this is a BIG deal, as she is truly the authority on all things Ginger. HOPEFULLY she will jump over to FaceBook and visit one of the many Ginger 'pages' there...
...speaking of Ms. Olden, don't forget the Antiques Roadshow coming up on February 20, February 27, and March 27 (strangely enough a four-week 'jump' until the final Palm Springs episode...) I plan on watching all, and probably DVR-ing them... Roberta will have a unique 'chair/stepladder' owned by Ginger appraised... who'll start the bidding? ;-)
...and that's about all I got... for now.
Until next time (dang time flies y'all),
KIG!!!

...Back to LIFE...
...Hey, Y'ALL!!!
...well, I've been noodling around with the LIFE covers, doing the 'touch-up' thang... it's pretty cool, but is a bit time-consuming... and ONE of these years I'll get those frames filled with these 'print-outs!
In the meantime... hows about a POLL? Y'all know where I'm heading with this...
WHICH of the three GingerLIFE covers shown above is your fave? ...yeah, yeah, yeah... where's Freddie and The Yam... well, ONE that is not a 'solo pic', and TWO it's an 'action shot', thus a bit different than the others, and THREE it's best to make a poll as few as possible (or so I've heard...).
SO... VOTE!!!
I'll leave it up a few weeks, I reckon...
More stuff coming up... stay tuned, y'all...

2017 is underway for Gingerologists...
..HI, y'all! Hope everyone has recovered from the holiday season, and is getting back into whatever groove you typically reside in... pretty coolish here in South Gingerville - low of 14 tonight... yow!!! Good thing Ginger is ready...
...this pic is all over the place, but it's SO awesome...
...as for Gingerology in 2017, there's quite a few things afoot...
FIRST, I know most of y'all are aware, but just in case...
The First Annual (hopefully) Ginger Rogers Day Festival is ON for 2017, in Independence, Missouri!!!
Gene and Marge Padgitt of Three Trails Cottages, LLC have been tirelessly renovating the 110-year old birth house of Ginger for the last year or so, and will have things ready to tour for the Festival on July 15-16... for more info, including how you can contribute to the cause, please visit (and JOIN / LIKE) "The Ginger House: Birthplace of Ginger Rogers, Independence, MO." on FaceBook, which has lots of great info on how the renovation process has gone... there are more specifics to come on the Festival (which I'll call GingerFest for short) on that page, which I will definitely echo here on G-ology... should be an AWESOME event!
-----------
SECOND, check out the popular PBS "Antiques Roadshow" towards the middle of February thru the First part of March, 2017... Roberta Olden, Ginger's longtime personal assistant, had an interesting piece of Ginger's furniture appraised by the folks on the show... a chair which 'telescopes' out into a stepladder-type deal, for use in the library... here's a few pics (thanks MonicaKelly!):
...Specific times are February 20, February 27, and March 27... here's a PBS Schedule link (thanks JuneTenBrown!): Antiques Roadshow Schedule ...hmmm... had a few shows in the 'Ham at the start of the year...cool!
-----------
THIRD, a little closer to home, Hu is going to get some 'changes' going on G-ology...most notably, more POSTS! There's a LOT of topics I have wanted to transcribe here, but just haven't had the time... and, if you know me, I am pretty 'deliberate' when it comes to compiling a 'major' post... so... no promises, of course, but... the goal is to be more prolific, and to add some more features... including adds to the GingerFilm blogs...SO... stay tuned...
-----------
Here's to a prosperous, peaceful, and GINGERY 2017, y'all!!!
